Google Voice. Free and effective, and easy to change your number if you start getting spammed.

I do like 2nd Line. It lets you set a password to restrict access to the application.

IShredder is a good tool to wipe files on mobile devices.

I use Text Now. Have to watch a few ads every so often, but it works, and I've never seen it on my bill.

Been laying low with the slim pickings and Corona.
