A person going down on a woman should avoid it during her period, for menstrual blood can carry the HIV virus.

From what I understand saliva does kill some of the HIV virus, but it isn't 100%, so there's still a risk.

Of course you could theoretically get HIV from kissing or from shaking hands from a chick if you both had cuts on your hands, etc. That is an extreme example, but my point is that nothing is completely safe except sitting home and beating off.
