I think there's a couple of reasons:

1) I've noticed that not a lot of indies out of LA and OC (or Vegas for that matter) have much interest in working in Hawaii. I thought about starting a "Working in the 808" club, but I didn't get much interest when I talked to my regulars in LA. Visiting Hawaii sure, but just on vacation.
