The guys at PURE tried and failed to get a strip club going, never having more than a few girls working on any given night. They've posted Help Wanted ads on CL every month, so they're either on constant recruitment or they have a problem holding on to people. I went there after their "grand opening" and they didn't have anything set up for a strip club venue, like stages for the girls to dance on.

I think they were trying to start a strip club in order to make money on nights when they don't have a concert booked, so it would alternate between being a concert hall and a strip club, which is a bad idea because it lacks consistency. Basically, they look like a bunch of amateurs who thought that starting a strip club would be easy.

If they were smart, they'd buyout Misty 1 and start recruiting girls ASAP. Kicking out the old ladies who sell HJs would be a necessary step because most strippers aren't prostitutes and wouldn't want to work alongside them. Renovating the place would cost money, of course. But, they stand to cash-in when FN closes by picking up whatever girls couldn't get into 939.

Location is key. Mistys is too close to all the condos in the area. Kalihi is still a dump for the time being and the PURE location is tucked away. I agree, cleaning up the HJ ladies is important.

Nice points but I think Kalihi area is ripe for a new club. The PURE guys gave up before they established a client base. I for one hate driving down by FN with all the traffic and riff raff.

Yun Hee has been trying to sell the place for years, but simply couldn't find a buyer with the money she was asking. As far back as 2006, I was hearing that she was looking to sell and that she'd even told her girls about her plans. I think the reason she had the renovations done on the property was to increase its sales value. From what I heard, the lot she owns and the neighboring property that includes Jazz Minds were the last pieces of property that were being bought-out, but the other property owner is holding-out.

Club 939 benefited from the closure of Hawaii By Night because most of HBN's girls went to 939, along with the DJ who works as a doorman now. So, 939 looks like it will get girls from FN and RZ when those places close, too. But, I think if Misty 1 plays their cards right, they could rise to become a big player after the closure of FN and RZ. Remember that two different clubs operated out of that same location that gave FN and RZ a run for their money, Hawaii Island Showgirls and Rascals. It's the perfect location for a strip club because it's off the main drag and wouldn't be a nuisance because they open later in the day. The problem the previous two clubs had was that the owners did something stupid and attracted LE to come in and shut them down.

If Misty 1 is smart, they could collect a lot of FN and RZ girls and become one of the top 2 clubs on Oahu, alongside 939. From what I remember, the club is big enough to handle a good sized crowd. All they'd have to do is to avoid the mistakes of Hawaii Island Showgirls and Rascals by keeping the pimps out, making sure their girls are over 21 and keeping any young punks from coming in and making problems for customers, because older guys with money aren't going to patronize a place where they'll be bothered by youth gangs before they even walk in the door. They'd also have to cut down or completely stop any kind of prostitution by girls in order to prevent HPD Vice from coming in.

If Misty 1 does it right, they could make a lot of money and outlast any of the previous businesses that occupied that spot before them. Otherwise, we won't have any serious strip clubs in Honolulu except 939 and some hole-in-the-wall dumps.

Nutty part is how bad her son must have fucked up for her to have to come back out of retirement. Your mom builds one of the best titty bars in the state and you fuck it up. I mean, if I were that clueless about running a strip bar (never mind you were raised in that business), I'd surround myself with good managers, you know?

I'm afraid that when that place opens up, Rock-Za and Femme Nu will probably be history. From what I understand, Yuni owns the land under Femme Nu. Rumors have been flying around for a long time that she's looking to sell (supposedly she was was going to sell back in April, according to the last rumor), and let's face it: Femme Nu ain't what it used to be.

From what I hear, it's the same story with Rock-Za. They own the land under it.

Both Rock-Za and Femme Nu have been around since the '80's and they're on prime real estate. I'm wondering how long those owners can hold out until the money just gets too good to pass up.
