Don't underestimate them. Many in China have been using VPN's for a long time to gain outside access. It's kind of like a cat and mouse game with the CCP finding them and shutting them down. My information is that WeChat will cease to function in the United States this weekend. I'm trying to decide on a safe VPN to use. I think it will function if the signal appears to be from another country. I was also told the it "should" be available for download with a VPN. If anyone has more information, please share it.

I depend on WeChat daily to communicate and to translate.

If it ends up requiring a VPN to use it, it's going lose 99% of it's value. Most of these girls aren't going to figure that out. They'll just move to some other platform.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that it will still be "up" for social messaging, but not for download as the gentleman said, and not for Money exchanges or electronic funds transactions. What's unclear is the phrase in the executive order of any US company "hosting" an internet platform allowing wechat traffic. I guess we shall see.
