Ya lot's of things, speak spanish so you can get around / barter, dress like the locals, keep your head down and on a swivel, look like you could kick ass if needed, know where you are going, know where the bad parts of town are, keep most your money hidden in a money belt, with a give up wallet in your front pocket with some cash, no jewelry, no fancy watch, keep your smart phone hidden, know where a safe ATM is.
