Posts: 876Ah, a thread in my wheelhouse.
Below are my opinions only-take them for what you will.
Thailand is always awesome. About twenty years ago, prices started spiking there.
Being the cheap bastard that I am, I simply changed destinations to the Philippines for a few years.
Basically by 2011 or so the costs were equalized so kind of started coming down to preferences.
If you prefer to be in a place where English is much more spoken and the people have at least some respect for Americans-Philippines all the way.
If you like a more "foreign" environment which is Brit dominated then off to Thailand with you.
The Thais are more businesslike in their transactions. The Filipinas are heaps better at GFE.
Personally at this point-I prefer VN to both of them. Something about those pale Asian bodies and pink nipples man.
DR / Mexico / Costa Rica / Caribbean-meh. Just never really enjoyed my time mongering there.
Brazil used to be fun until like 10 years ago. Now it's just a pain in the ass-especially Rio. Some of the smaller cities are still OK. I kind of like Fortaliza. Mostly Italian tourists for some reason. Even lucked out a few times and scored visiting Italian girls from the hotel bars, etc.
Colombia / Peru / Argentina-chefs kiss.
If you can't have a decent conversation in Spanish-learn.
Colombia the last 7-10 years has been overrun by American mongers. It's not the same.
Spent 4 months in Argentina last fall. See my previous notes about the Demi Moore and Denise Richards lookalikes. Enough said. My current primo destination, but it's not easy. Recommended more for those for who the hunt is as much fun as the actual score itself.
One more thing on the PI/TH-fot those nearing retirement age, the Philippines is MUCH more welcoming. You can deposit a nominal sum in a Philippines bank account and qualify for a SRRv (special retirement visa). Basically means you don't have to leave the country ever so often.
Thailand-at least as of a few years ago was not making things as easy for retirees. Basically there, you had to fly to another country and stay a night every 3 or 6 months. Sounds easy, but it can turn into a pain in the ass quickly. This could have changed-Im not as keyed into the Thailand mongering community that much anymore.

I was staying at the Dynasty Inn Hotel on Soi 4. A British chap and I were watching the side walk scenery while also enjoying cocktails. A hot looking scantily dressed lady came up from the side walk to our table. She then said to me that she was watching me walking on Soi 4 last night. At this point I'm thinking OK why me our all the hundreds of people traversing the street. The gal then suggested that I take her up to my room where she could model for me. By now the big head had over ruled the small and was screaming beware. It was obvious she wanted a drink, this was my opportunity to exit. I bought her a glass of wine, which she just about chugged. I then said that I was calling it a night and retied to my room leaving her with the Brit.
Next morning I ran into the Brit in the hotel lobby. He had a good sized bandage on the side of his face. He shared the events that occurred after I left. He and the young lady went out drinking, he said he felt sorry for her. She proceeded to get drunk, the Brit told her you are drunk. She immediately erupted slamming her glass into his face screaming you can't talk that way to me.
Bottom line go and enjoy Thailand, but like anything you have too keep eyes open.
Regards,
H1.

Based on my interest in learning and some post lately, I thought I'd start a thread to discuss travel destinations that cater the hobby. Maybe learn where to go to get the most for your dollar. I welcome any seasoned travels to chime in.
