Can't see how LE can get an IP address from a BP ad. The actual URL is assigned by BP and I can't see a way back to the provider IP.

Also it may need a court order to force an internet provider to be specific about a location, down to the actual house. Most IP's that we are familiar with are concerned with a general area not a actual residence. Can't see a judge issuing one for a misdemeanor offense.

I suspect the lady gave out some other identifying info, or the police were responding to a complaint from a third party. Probably the latter.

I once googled a well-known escort's phone number from her ad. It actually led back to her home address in Florida. Different name of course, but if LE wanted to prosecute this escort her phone number provided a way to do this. If an escort has a regular phone account with Verizon, then if LE could force Verizon to reveal the providers name and address, using the phone number in the ad, then they have some solid evidence to prosecute with. Luckily, its too expensive and time consuming; also an unacceptable invasion of privacy. I should imagine LE has more important things to do. What we have to accept is that LE could successfully prosecute any escort or monger if it came to that; their resources are huge. Its just too much trouble and a waste of tax payers money.

I'm not too sure on all of the details. Here is an excerpt from the news article:

"________ was arrested Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m., according to an Aiken County Sheriffs Office arrest report. She is facing 21 charges of Sex/Prostitution 1st Offense. She is accused of placing ads on Backpage.com between December 2015 and February 2016 offering sex for money on the website.

According to the arrest report, ________ did place an advertisement on Backpage.com under the escorts tab for the purpose of procuring or soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.

The ads were accompanied by a phone number confirmed to belong to ________. The IP address from which the ads were posted was traced back to her residence. A search warrant was executed at her home Wednesday and she was subsequently arrested.

The article also indicated that LE was doing a sweep before Masters week. I looked up the address, and it's an upscale neighborhood, so maybe that's got something to do with it as well.

D1, Thanks for the info. She had just asked me to write a review when suddenly she stopped corresponding. Her web site disappeared about this time and because it was so sudden I feared that she may have been arrested or someone had outed her to her family. She once told me that her boyfriend was a former client and he wanted her to quit, so what you posted makes sense. She's a great gal and I'm happy to know that she's not in any trouble. Thanks for your update.

I emailed her a few months back and she and a guy have hooked up so she retired from the business. I have since sent an email with no reply.

I was looking through the Columbia BP ads today, and I came across this one:

Looked pretty interesting, so I checked it out. In my research I came across a news report. It turns out that the girl was busted by LE a few weeks ago.

Well, what I found interesting about this is that LE traced the girl's IP address from the BP ad back to her house, took out a search warrant, and arrested her. Well, my question is, how does the hobby continue to function if that's the case? I mean, LE could just go down the list every day, get the addresses of these girls, and bust them. From what I read, it doesn't seem like that got her in a normal sting. It sounds like they didn't catch her in any sort of act or attempt. They seem to have just busted her for the BP ad itself. Is this a new tactic for LE, or was this just a special case? Do I just have this wrong, or maybe the news report didn't give enough information? If LE can do that, what's to stop them from doing the same thing to hobbyists on this site, not just the providers? This thing has me sort of perplexed and I was wondering if anyone had another viewpoint on this.

P.S. I have a question for one of the Mods. I was going to post the news report also. However, I know there is a policy against posting personal information. Would posting the news report be allowed, or no?

We were planning our next meeting when she stopped responding to my e-mails. I tried one text and got no response to that either. I wonder if she had some legal, personal or medical issue.

I understand that you're attempting to help. With all due respect this was reported two years ago and beaten to death in the forums. It was nothing more than a difference of opinion between a paranoid provider raising an alarm based on her assumptions about a mysterious "client" and the owner of P411. Nothing more; nothing less. The provider posted simply because Gina didn't agree with her. To my knowledge there have been NO subsequent similar reports. Generalizing from a single incident is irrational. IMHO.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw the baby out w the bathwater. And I think the link about the Denver sting is a little more pertinent when it comes to our safety.

Just because this happened 2 years ago doesn't mean it isn't a real issue that can and probably will affect us and our favorite providers in the future. If you aren't aware of the past you are sure to repeat.

I've called the number for several of the AA ladies who post somewhat regularly on BP -- I wanted a chocolate bunny for Easter.

Sometimes, the lady will answer, (often to my shock and amazement, usually the number just rings to a non-working mail box) and I'll say what worked in a state upnorth: hi, I'm XY and I'm calling for XX about the ad; or, may I speak to XX. Each time the lady hangs up. A return call later goes in answered. This has happened with calls to Amiyah, Leyah, Passion, Layla, and a few others.

Perhaps it's my upper Midwest accent, or its my diction is to precise, or I just don't use the proper words (yo *****, sounds like a loser opening to me).

Could it be my upper Midwest area code working against me?

I've been seeing a lady for 3 years. The only thing she knows about me is that I live in the area, fake last name, my burner phone number, something I made up about what I do.

So my advice if you do have affair. Lie, lie, lie. And if she starts whinning about "wanting more in relationship" RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

It is a big risk and I got screwed years ago by some wacko woman who found out who I was by just a few bits of real info. Was working it on another dating site. But she had agenda to fuck over guys cheating on so's. If they didn't deliver on her demands for gifts.

Interesting situation that you've stumbled into DL (how ironic with the initials). Let's see now. As some of my esteemed board members have pointed out, there's a big risk in not paying a donation to avoid any confusion with what's happening. You are paying with your time, energy and emotion. If things go south with feelings then a simple situation can become very complex and nasty. If the spouse finds out that you've had an affair and this wasn't an open marriage then rest assured that someone will be paying for legal fees and mine cost $20 k for the divorce. There is the possibility of paying alimony, if you have children then there's child support to consider. Then there's the division of assets and bank accounts, retirement accounts, equity, automobiles, debt, additional expenses for the kids like medical and dental and college funding. . Oh by the way depending on the age of the children they will have to have a guardian ad litem as well and I guess the bright spot would be that both of you would split this cost. Lastly, if you have kids how will the ex refer to you in the presence of the kids when you are not around. If she's vindictive then there's the possibility of her poisoning the kids minds (forgot to mention that they might blame you for the family demise and how you destroyed mom) so that's just my opinion on the matter because unless she has as much to lose as you do and preferably more to lose this can become a nightmare.

PLEASE listen closely to what topflight said. I know this is true from personal experience. Pay a girl to fuck you. Forget having an affair. You will more than likely get busted if you try. And if you don't get busted, you'll get hurt. Emotions come into play and someone gets hurt. Or everyone gets hurt.
