I can understand why you would have friends you've made through there. From reading the forums the culture there is very different. But I still felt completely on my own when it came to the most important part, so did a lot of TOFTT.

I've been going to the Philippines every 2 to 3 years to visit family. I would spend a week with family, and another week for some me time. I've been weary about going to other countries due to possible language barrier, but I think I'll just need to bite the bullet and go somewhere.
