I have a points timeshare for my family vacations that we use with our RCI membership. Depending on how many points you have you can use some of them to knock down the cost of a room. Used some points a few months back and got a room on the Pike (Meriden Broad St) for 25. I believe it was the Quality Inn. Using points today for my anniversary 40 bucks for the Hyatt Place in Milford. Only down fall is your can only use a certain percentage of your overall points which I want to say is 20%. So once that is all used up no more discounts. Worth at least 2 cheap rooms with what I have.

I have hilton and get points but don't care. Hilton thinks that game keeps people loyal to them. They are blind to Priceline, Orbitz, et al.

I've even told their desk people, just can the points system and lower their rates if they want loyal customers.

Years ago, a Marketing VP bitched at me in an email that I could lose all my accumulated points if I didn't stay at a hilton by a certain date.

I wrote back and stated if you want my points so bad and as a penalty, go ahead and take them now.

American Express used to pull crap like that too for not using their card more often. They have an annual fee so I dropped them like a bag of dirt, too.

Hilton and AmEx weren't doing me any favors, so adios bitches!
