Not sure if these comments are directed at me but since I am the original poster for Amy I will assume so. I have just two things to say in my defense Opinion and Facts.

I'm not sure about your provider friend's clientele. Maybe she deals exclusively with high rollers. Most of us, however, live on a budget and can't afford to see providers like her who suffer from GPS. That's one reason I've frequented ACS providers in recent years despite the drawbacks. Their rates have remained reasonable amidst the overall rise in provider prices.

As for a possible government shutdown, that's been averted for now. But we may be having such discussions again in November if the idiots in Congress don't get their act together.

I'm not making twice what I did ten years ago but the entry FS price for indys is $600 these days. I'm seeing one provider asking for $600 and you pay for the room. It does not come off the top, but the deposit does.
