I do that too but for two different reasons. Some of these places are a bit dodgy at night, so walking to and from your car better to just have $100 on you. I used to bring only exact cash in the pocket. If there's the option or possibility of extras I bring a "burner" wallet. Over the years I have been pro about it, never lose anything.
