Actually, all you have to do is get a bland email somewhere, such as a gmail account, and keep the password away from S / O's. Then you can have all VM's and I'm's cc'd to that email. Then when a provider texts you pics, you will see them in the emails, even though they don't show up on your phone. You can also use the app, either on the phone or on the web, to call from your Google voice number, and then 'answer' when your regular phone rings. They are then seeing the call coming from your Google voice number.

Only negative is not being able to send pics BACK, although that's rare anyway. But I use my Google voice with some mongers too, so sometimes there is the desire to send a pic.

I use Pinger. Its free to download. Texting is free and you can buy minutes for super cheap. I think it was 100 minutes for a $1. TextMe is another app and I think its all free with a Wifi connection.
