First, my condolences to Freckle Freak and the loss of Autumnskyy. I've never met either, and in fact I don't think I even heard of Autumnskyy until I read about her on the post about her passing. Truly sounds like I missed out.
And congrats to XNatalieX for staying clean. I have been very fortunate that I've never fallen into any substance abuse habits, so I really don't know how much guts it takes to admit to something like that, even on a somewhat anonymous forum, but I imagine it takes some. So that and staying clean definitely earns one some bragging rights!
And of course, congratulations to Sara8032 for beating cancer. I've had several relatives on my mom's side who have died from it. One of my aunts who never smoked died of lung cancer. All of them lived in the same area of Kentucky (about 30 miles south of Cincinatti), so I don't know if it's something in the environment, genetics, or a combination of both.
As for myself, I've struggled with depression for ages. It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but there were several times when suicidal thoughts crept in. Though I still get depressed from time to time (like we all do), I will say that having my life delibritatly put in danger made me keenly aware of two things: life can be over at any second, and I WANT TO LIVE.
No matter how big a pain in the ass things might be at times, at least we're here to deal with it. (Then there's so many awesome things I would have missed out on if I did take myself out).
I have seen proof that animals go on after they pass, so I have no reason to doubt that we do too. But I still want to ride it out as long as I can. I may change my mind when I'm 90 and drooling pudding on myself, but for now, strap in and see where these roads lead to.

Not long ago I watched a video that went viral that was recorded by a lady who passed away. She asked for it to be played AFTER she was gone. The thing that stuck out most was when she said this; I was born, I blinked, and it was over with. I relate with her so much. Most of my family passed when I was young. Their average age was 52. That's just a few years away for me. Now I may make it 100 years old, no one knows. But my point is this. None of us are here very long. And when I say this to others, I'm called a cynic, or pessimistic. But that's not it at all. I try to remind people about our time on this planet, in the hopes that they realize how precious life is, and how important it is to have good times along the way, and share them with others. Some people you'll know just a short time, and others will be there until the end. Treat them all the same, and remind them every so often of the love and happiness they have brought you. Celebrate their lives when they pass, and reflect back on the things they left you. Everyone here is part of a brotherhood. It's wonderful to laugh together, and it's just as important to mourn together. I've only met a handful of you, but I feel like I know everyone. Any time I can do anything for any one of you, I'm always here.

Freckle Freak, The longer we get to live on this earth, the more people we have to let go. You were blessed to have this beautiful woman in your life as she was you, even for only 4 years but she has given you a lifetime of memories.
BG,

Those who knew and loved Autumnskyy.
Having lost someone close to me recently brings it all back. All we can do is remember the good memories and value the times we had.
