I have read the recent posts in regards to LEO and our attitudes towards them. Now I'm not going to play devils advocate because I have dealt with a few piggies and some uncle toms with a badge and some were pleasant while others weren't. I always say a cop is the product of its environment. Same reason why I have been pulled over in Sandy Springs the the officer gave me a ticket for Suspended license and the same cop caught my the next week on the way to work speeding and let me all my co worker to come get the car instead of towing it. He basically broke it down like hey you fucking up dude...but I'm not going to put you through all the trouble because you didn't go get your license renewed. While in Clayton county I have seen them actually scour the parking lot of a walmart and run the tags and wait for the person to come out of the store and pull them over before they leave the parking lot. Product of the environment man..you can't blame them for acting like dicks in an area of town where you got to be a dick. Especially when you pull over someone just to tell them that the tail light is out and they bust a cap up your ass which had a few times last year. I'm not justifying their actions I'm just saying if I had a badge I would be a little leery myself but them again I would be a corrupt cop. So much freebies to be had for the right cop you know. I always say know the laws...traffic, area, and civil. Something as simple as the "no cruising zone". I think alot of the times its always the little thing that triggers LEO to come after you. Something as simple as when you ride past one and you stare into his car. Makes you look suspicious. I've completely change my game plan around when mongering and I don't and hardly ever attract LEO...even at 4 am on FIB. I don't even look in the rear view mirror when he's behind me. Just makes me seem like I gots nothing to worry about and you guys talking about the description..shit..I know I fit it real good!! But like I said not a knock on LEO or saying I'm against. I hate when they mess up my fun but ain't nothing like having them around when these suckas out here acting up.

I am a senior member from Knoxville TN, passing through the great Atlanta area Thursday evening. I will be staying in the Marietta area that night before returning to Tennessee Friday evening. I do not want to discuss Race. The moderator believes this forum is incapable of having an intelligent discussion about race.

That said, I think the reason many (Black, White, Blue, Purple, etc). Guys do not push reporting harassment is they really do not want to draw attention to the fact that they were "innocently" cruising FIB, Metropolitan Ave. Etc. Of course the po po know that. No different than the the old adage "you can be the time but you can't avoid the ride." That and it is a royal pain in the ass to interact with the police department. I've had several occasions where I've tried to be helpful (found valuable lost property, saw a dangerous situation on a roadway like a tree that fell down, been a target of mail fraud) & the amount of time spent dealing with them / placed on hold / passed around like SW makes me really think twice about being a "Good Samaritan.".

Cops hate when you know your rights, usually when I've exercised mine it just made them be bigger dicks. Like when they have no reason at all to stop me and use that "you fit the description" bullshit. They ask to search the car and I say no every single time. The first reaction is usually shock, then depending on the cop the next is usually calling the drug dog to sniff around the car or just be pissed and drive off. If they had even a remotely legit reason I wouldn't be a dick but Clayton county, Cobb and Dekalb cops are the absolute WORST. I try to inform them that I have a weapon concealed with my hands on the steering wheel until they instruct me what to do next and even then most of them acted like bitches. One even emptied my magazine on the ground and told me to pick it up when he left. Thought about filing a report but most likely nothing would've come of it.

Are you out of your mind?! Why would you exercise rights you have when a porker wants to obviously trample all over them and harass you for no fucking reason? Cops have this crazy notion, in my case anyway, that if you are a young black male pushing a whip they couldn't afford then you got to be a drug dealer. I've had cops pull me out my car because I refused to roll my window all the way down and would only speak to them thru a small opening.

File a complaint if you have a run in with them. Even small minor complaints add up. They do shit knowing most people are not going to. Plus this way, if they ever pull you over again, you can call harassment. Nothing pisses off cops more than a muthafucka knowing his rights and exercising them.

I have done some research on this and also had some training while in the USN years ago. You can record video in public and it just was confirmed by the us supreme court, uncle LEO the metro douche bags can't do nothing and believe the douche bags here are some ignorant jackasses that couldn't find their ass with both hands. All they use here is perceived intimidation. You can record them without their knowledge or with their knowledge, but those ass* will try to intimidate you. The magic words are "am I free to leave and what is the nature of your inquiry. I ain't no ambulance chaser but it is on the web. I was stopped a few weeks ago and I got the updated info. The only way they can search your car is with a warrant or your permission, even if they bring a dog. These metro pigs like to intimidate, but stand your ground. Most people tell on themselves. There are some good vids for this by real scheister lawyers. Know your rights and put these douche bags in place.

Completely fucking legal for you or any of us to have cameras and recording devices installed on our vehicles for any purpose. I've had a car with cameras on it and a mic inside the car. You can use the same laws the cops use to record you. So long as the recording doesn't happen in a private setting where there is an expectation of privacy, then it's permissible by the law. Plus a police officer pulling me over doesn't tell me he's recording me when he stops me, but his camera and mics start recording when he turns on his lights, so do I owe him the same courtesy? No. If you want to protect yourself, I'd say this is a solid investment against the bacon and ham hocks.

Agree. Even if there were a local ordinance prohibiting video / audio recording, I would rather risk that than be a victim of some serious bullshit.

Personally, I would never tell a cop, "I refuse to answer any questions," if stopped in the vicinity of a no-tel. That's just priming the pump. I just smile, act naïve and eventually they have to give up. Also, before going out SW or no-tel mongering, best to check your vehicle to ensure all lights are working properly and all occupants wear seatbelts. Realize it sounds gay, but I got nailed a couple of times in my SW-hunting days because LE couldn't get me on any ho-related charges, so one time they got me on a passenger not wearing a seatbelt. Another time I had a taillight out. Would love to sue the bastards for harassment reasons but I bet it would be hard to prove unless a guy had a hidden cam and mic.

BTW, does anyone know if installing a video cam and mic in your personal vehicle in any ATL county is a violation? Could solidify an LE-harassment case or car accident issue.

For audio conversations, one party to the conversation (I.e. You) must consent.

For video, all parties involved must consent.
