I would like all mongers to know you do not have to waste money on a secondary phone. I use this program called " textnow.com" You can have it mostly for text messages. Free incoming calls. 1.99 for 100 minutes if you need to make a call. This is what I use on my phone. You basically log in when you want to use it, log out when you do not want to use it. That way if your with family over the weekend you don't have to worry about your phone going off. When you are logged off you can still receive text messages. So, when your actually ready to meet your favorite girl or whoever. You can see who has tried to call or text you.

My girl looks at my phone from time to time so what I do is just uninstall the program from my phone. Install it again when I am ready to monger. It works great. At least for me anyways. You just use very minimal data.

I feel your pain brother and am also in a similar situation. The last thing you need is some Ho calling or texting you. Sooner or later you'll put the phone down and forget about. Next thing you know your wife is on your phone. My wife checks my texts and call logs. I tell her that behavior is effed up, but what can you do if you have nothing to hide? Change your number ASAP and tell your wife some dead beat gave your number to bill collectors. Secondly, I don't know why people keep saying burner phones cost $20 or $30 per month. My tracfone cost $20 per 90 days. It also includes 60 minutes but most phones automatically double or triple those minutes. If people can't afford that, they can't afford the hobby.

Almost certainly there is a divorce coming in my future. When I first started mongering (before I realized the necessity of a monger phone) I gave my civilian cell phone number to a few select SW, there have been several texts and phone calls between SW and myself on my primary cell phone. Too many texts and calls to try to pass off as "oops wrong number" Did I really screw up in doing this? How far back would the wife's divorce lawyers go back in looking at my cell phone records? I access this website through my smart phone and it seems like this might be a mistake also? Someone please advise me on this.

Hey bro I am not a lawyer so please take this advice with a grain of salt. I think the obvious solution I see in this situation is to cancel your current line and get a new one and make sure to delete your current phone number from your wifes phone or anywhere else she saved it. The reason why I say this is because if you change your line and get a new number and say 5 years from now she files for divorce, again I don't wish that. But if she does and her lawyer goes through the new phone number, he won't find those phone and text conversation you had with those SW thus getting you out in the clear because you did that with your old number. What do you think about this, so far that's all I got.

Some of us old mongers aren't as old or afraid of technology as you think. If we were there would be no Intel on the Internet as the 20 something's (no offense) don't have our experiences.

I use google voice but not to hobby. It is a great alternative to handing out my home or cell phone number but it's not a fit for this hobby plain and simple.

Younger guys may not have a reason to worry about privacy too much and want to try out new alternatives. But when you are older with family you might not want to read about you in the paper you may change your mind.

No offense taken bro but I think my point is being missed. Everyone was right about google voice and its lack of privacy and easy acess for LE which made me research some more on other ways to solve the problems and have found it in Upptalk so that my fellow mongers never run into trouble due to our favorite hobby.

To invest 30 in a phone equate to 360 a year and I bet my monger whip would enjoy those savings in a form of a gas.

My main point was to point out that Upptalk which I just found out yesterday puts to rest all the worries many members have about using a voip that ones wife lawyer can use your phone record to find out about your Upptalk and get the court to get you to turn over that information, which with Upptalk so far to my knowledge does not apply.

Second many members were worried about LE being able to get a court order to access your Upptalk alternative phone number, which again to my best knowledge so far they can't because Upptalk is phyiscally located outside of the country.

And to your point about privacy, you are right but one difference is that there are plenty of apps out there in Google Play that puts password locks to all apps in your cell phone which is what I have so that when people try to access my alternative phones, they will need to put in a password I created and don't ever give out.

1. I am still in my 20's so forgive me that I over look the privacy of a burner phone, because I was raised in the technology boom and yes with newer technology comes less privacy and to us people in our 20's, burner phones are old technology that cost .30 a month to put minutes and text when you can get newer technology that is free like viop phone services like google voice, pinger, Skype, Ooovo, etc.

2. many of our seniors are old school and can care less about newer technology and like their usually routine with burner phone.

3. after researching further in voips, I found out that there are many out there that are based outside the country and that LE can not have access to and Google voice is not one of them.

4. a new alternate that I just found out about last night that works like google voice and gives you a seperate new phone number and are based outside of the country is called Upptalk.

5. in the end my goal in giving alternates to burner phones post is the same as you my fellow mongers in having a way to communicate with our SW and be able to keep your private life, private from the wife and the provider.

Your wife's divorce lawyer can also use your phone records to figure out whether you're using Google phone, and can get the court to compel YOU to turn over the information. Yep, it works that way.

You can buy a burner for .15, and get hundreds of minutes for .2 (or 1,000+ minutes and texts for .3). If you're spending thousands per year on the hobby, a 5-10% privacy and security expense is a good investment.

Pitraeus went down even though he had a burner email because they linked his log-in IP from the burner email to his real email.

Set up a burner email from the public library on hushmail. Then never log into it or this site under your alias without using the TOR browser. Never link your alias to your IP.

Get a burner phone and figure out a code system for the numbers to log in a secondary location under the code. If the burner is compromised destroy it as bunker noted and start over. Decode the numbers you logged using your coded system and reenter them to the new phone. Don't log your coded numbers on a computer since your code will not be hard to break. If you give a girl your phone number in an email make it the burner number. Change burner phones at least annually.

I rather use a burner phone and spend 20, 30 a month, I have 2 phone's and one is called the Ho phone just for Ho's only. You don't know when the goggle voice's will mess up or can't get into it or maybe turn it off, my burner phone stay's in my truck under the seat cushion or at work, its the best way to play the game. Just my thoughts.

I use google voice on my samsung galaxy note 3 as a second line when I don't want people having my primary line and I am telling you that it is great. This way I don't have to carry two phones on me that will look suspicious and there are app locks on my phone that allows me to lock up everything on my phone, so that people will not have access to my second life.

A decent alternative, but the voicemail situation is sketchy at best. If they dial your Google Voice number and it goes to voicemail they will hear your real number's pre-recorded message.

Hey bro I just dialed my goggle voice from my own phone, weird I know but I just did and it rang and the only pre recorded voice mail I hear is that "the google subscriber is not available, please leave a message at the tone".

See I think I just found out the solution to your problem if your goggle voice is acting like that.

The problem is that I think you might have linked your real number with your goggle voice number instead of getting a separate goggle voice number. I didn't link mines when it asked me to and have never had that problem.

To remove your real number pre recorded voice mail on Google voice, you just have to go back to your account and unlink your real number from googgle voice and apply for a separate different Google number.
