Saw those cops too yesterday when I drove by. They were dutifully writing out tickets to unfortunate drivers. Honolulu's finest maintaining its reliable source of revenue for the City. They must be stocking up for the financial Armageddon that's impacting government coffers. If they catch anyone violating quarantine orders, even better. More money, more money, more money.

The city does not receive any money from traffic fines. It goes to the state. The city pays for HPD, but for some reason the state gets the "revenue".

Every day this week, from about 7 am to 7 pm, there are cops at the McKinley school parking entrance using lasers to trap speeders. I wonder. Why the sudden interest in this place? Are they really interested in ticketing lockdown violators?

There are usually two or three cops. Does anyone know what this is all about?

I am so glad Covid19 response is being tempered with actual science and for the most part people are listening to calls for social distancing and now masks. Just washing hands helps. Hawaii has had a great response to the stay at home proclamation according to the tracking data. I'm glad flight passenger numbers took a massive down turn. I'm also thankful that we have home quarantine till the 30th at least and the DOE has decided to wait for 30 days of no new cases before school is started. Even Kamehameha schools have implemented alternate means.

It's decisions like the above and more active police involvement that will hopefully curb cases. We can't stop it but we can try our best to limit it. People can say what they want, type what they want, and believe what they want as long as they stay home doing it.
