Honestly I think it is less prohibition and more just trying to protect people from themselves. There have been a lot of clusters related to bars in the mainland, so that is what they are trying to prevent here. At this point, I think shit is out of control in the US anyway so might as well just let whoever wants to get sick, get sick. Eventually enough people will die and people will take it seriously or people will just keep dying until the curve flattens for everyone else. I don't think this half assed approach is going to work, you either shut everything down and keep it closed or you don't. Can't have your cake and eat it too. That's more for the coronavirus thread I guess, but at this point, I think we have failed to contain it so why not just open all the bars.

When the ban on bars was lifted last month, I was at 904 and overheard some guys bragging about how Cleopatra was open almost everyday during the lockdown. Saying stuff like nobody wearing masks especially staff and mama not believing in the pandemic. Hope nobody got sick while going there.

Yesterday there was an article about them shutting down Cafe Gangnam for 24 hours. While not a "Korean bar" in this forums context, it is a "bar".

Key points: A complaint was made at 1 am. Investigators went there shortly after the complaint and took action.

    Sweet Okole

I have only mongered twice since lock down. I probably should not even be mongering at all but we all have our vices.

Only thing about protocol I realized after session the other day is the wash your hands / sanitizer bit. I, like many of you, love to smell my fingers (and pussy juice, in general) after each session. Sometimes for days. All day.

I remember going to smell my fingers when I was leaving the premises and got a nice whiff of rubbing alcohol. Fuck you, Rona!

In the meantime, prep for one nodda shutdown possibly coming soon due to new daily COVID 19 infection and death numbers. If no like learn, do work, flunk: stay home. I no like but personal and public health needed to fully reopen.
There's been some good talent coming in. Enjoy while you can before the second shutdown.

    Pearl City bars Sunday recon

Misty Blue - 4 booths packed. Probably a golf party. To many loud, drunk, mask less customers. Ladies didn't wear the masks properly but at least they did temperature checks.

    Sunflower. No sunshine there.

    Choi's. Less sunshine there.

Acacia. Hana Marie was outside smoking looking for business. Was looking for her sister Ann. Anyone know where she went?

After living places that have a lottery and then living here for 20 years. I can't see too much effect on our economy to have a lottery. I've always felt that a lottery is a tax on the poor though. The people who would benefit from it the most spend a disproportionate amount of their income on it. Gambling tends to bring another set of problems too. As far as enticing other industries, tech is tough since our infrastructure is shit. Hawaii doesn't have a ton of skilled tech workers or developers locally, even though I have been mostly working remote and can do so fine, I think scaling that would be impossible. Even gamers in Hawaii complain about the ping here, but not much we can do when we are literally an ocean apart from the states and Asia. Looking at areas like the Bay Area, it could even compound some issues if you introduce tons of highly paid tech workers here.

The pandemic really continues to highlight all the issues we have in the country. As well as the state.

I don't think any of the people running for leadership positions in the government here are worth a shit though.

Also lose out on tax money due to the AirBNB. Hawaii should be targeting the rich Koreans and Japanese, funneling them towards hotels and all that. Selling them luxury travel packages. Would also open up Hawaii residents headed to Japan and Korea. Of course, with cases spiking here again, our local government not getting a control of the tourists who are coming here and breaking quarantine, I don't think any of those countries will bite anymore.

Talking about economies and the virus.

Sweden didn't shut down and now they are seeing super high deaths rates without any economic benefit that trump keeps using as reasons to reopen early.

In lasting pandemic, Thai must change. Quality than quantity. 50 K shopping from one middle east rich than 50 K from 500 gogo bar clients. One family at 5 stars resorts than 100 young guys at hostels.

And Thai starts "70% discount tour course for locals". Now Thai people can enjoy cheap tour if recession did not affect them much.

Now soon we can go to Thai, if we can pay resorts quarantine fee for minimum 14 days in phuket.

Thai government said they must shift industry structure into more manufacture and agriculture.

It must be hard for most of tourism countries but there is no way. Tourists will not love lands as much as locals, and not easy to track.
I wish there was a travel bubble between us and Thailand. I do my mongering on the side there, but I typically stay for at least two weeks a year and I do so in 5 star hotels, so a 5 star hotel requirement wouldn't bother me in the least. The current plans from Thailand got scrapped though. No clue when things will actually open up there. Even flights right now are all tentative since without official statements from their government, no one knows if they will even be let in.
