He didn't just do nothing, though. While he didn't specifically call it a hoax, he did tell people it was nothing to worry about. He said it would go away when it got warm outside, in effect, that this would resolve itself naturally in a timely manner while he had people around him to tell him otherwise.

He also disbanded the pandemic response team we enacted after the ebola scare a few years ago. We had some measure of governmental infrastructure to combat this exact situation and chose to dismiss it.

We could have reacted to this new disease in December. This was in February. And also certain US counties have announced they're no longer going to report cases, so yeah.

It sounds like your perception of America's greatness is a little inflated. We are not handling this well and all the data proves it.

A few people I work with have had symptoms, but the doctors won't test them because they aren't considered "at risk. " They just told them to quarantine themselves for 14 days.

After all they have so open and upfront about this virus right from the start. It is a huge leap to assume that the most reported cases reflects an accurate picture of where the virus is most widespread. Most advanced countries are testing at much greater levels than the United States. The number of cases in this country is certainly much higher than reported, since so many people with minor symptoms are not being tested. As to whether China is reporting accurately, you're right, we have no way of knowing.
