Speaking of online security why does this board not use https? It's a glaring security issue that be fixed cheaply by just provisioning an SSL cert. As it is right now all traffic to this board including username / password are sent in the clear so it would incredibly easy for a malicious actor to sniff traffic including PMs. I'm not sure how to contact the admins to ask about it.

As much as I used to rely on it, if they don't have the new / repaired site up soon, it won't matter how shiny it is, all of the providers and hobbyists will come to rely on other sites and just won't come back.

My take is that there's no coming back if they are offline for more than a couple of weeks, certainly no chance if it's a month or more.

The way I understood it is they have a clean database that they are building off of. Per their twitter updates they said you will log in and they'll prompt you to change your password and everything else will be as it was before. I've heard there were potentially a couple weeks of data loss. If whoever hacked them has passwords, I see loads of potential issues with that so who knows. I just want to get into my account so I can delete it.

That doesn't sound super great. They are probably doing the minimal update to get it running.

These days it isn't super hard to build a message forum. Strapi has a tutorial using their database.

NodeJS, you can run NodeBB and have full stack Javascript making it simpler to maintain (by way of only one programming language).
