think we can guess which of the 4 was closed, and probably justified. however, bugs in bottles? how did those places manage that one? yuck

Anyone who wants to check out the girls at the Venus has until Sep 30. The owner had no choice but to give in to the extortion of the Town of East Hartford and will be removing the girls at the end of this month.

One down, one to go. The town feels that girls taking their tops off somehow leads to drunks and drug addicts fighting with each other. Their arguments about crime could be applied to all banks and stores in town as well. It's an easy target for them to show the public that they are getting tough on crime. Not many people, even the patrons of these establishments will fight for their right to exist.

Hopefully Kahoots wins their challenges to the ridiculous new town ordinances. They have deep enough pockets to fight them.

True the venus{flytrap} is a dump, but I was looking for a closer place than down south. I'd been going there on an occasion over the years and never found anything worthy of a second beer. To Garthy's skepticism, i think there's no doubt that Venus isn't the most inviting club of the many in the "greater Hartford" area. As Paesan says, it's a "whole in the wall". I happen to generally prefer a somewhat "sleazier" club, like PM in Bridgeport, MSC in San Francisco, and Venus in E. Htfd., to the fancier, more "upscale" clubs that many prefer. Personally, I've never felt threatened at Venus, over perhaps 75 visits stretching over at least 10 years. (I suppose that includes a few management changes.)

My experience in smaller, (shall we say?) "less upscale" clubs is that while the dancers are often somewhat less beautiful, and many are downright skanky, they're also often much more enthusiastic (or do a better job pretending to be), usually much less expensive, and most of the time more approachable than at the upscale clubs. The smaller, sleazier clubs have fewer managers around to police how close the dancers get to you on stage, and you tend to get a better experience for your $.

Just MHO, and YMWV. Finally, I'm not at all associated with Venus or any other club. Though, for the amount of time I've spent in 'em, I ought to be a part-owner of at least one!

What does that mean to me? It means that the new club manager or dancer or DJ or bouncer (if there is one, etc) wants to sucker a few folks from USAG to come and waste their time, money and risk their life to go to their shitty club in their shitty town.
