Visited Eugene and Salem on Saturday. Didn't see anything for sure on 6th, 7th, or 8th in Eugene. Tried for about an hour and a half. Everyone ended up taking the bus that was a possible on 8th. Barely even a look at the car.

Springfield actually looked more promising out on Main and the road coming the other direction. Saw a couple that looked promising and by the time I came back, they were gone. Did that for about an hour.

Salem looked promising but I had some disappointments. Found one sure-thing on Broadway. No beauty, but she started to approach the car but then took off. I think I looked like a cop to her, despite the Washington license plate. Saw a couple others that disappeared before I got back to them. That was about an hour as well.

Certainly wish I could get some.

I was in Salem Monday on business and had an opportunity to do some cruising of the various strolls. Mid afternoon it started to sprinkle then rain pretty good so I was prepared for no action - wrong. Between 2 and 5 pm I spotted 4 working ladies on Broadway and could have picked them up as they all approached my parked car.
#1 was out for much of the time moving from one spot to another - unfortunately, while she was reasonably young and had some looks she was 20 lbs + overweight which turned me off.
#2 was taller and slim looked better in the late afternoon rain and when she approached I noted she was likely late 40's and missing a lot of teeth. A definite turn off.
#3 was about 5'6" OK weight but looked well worn so I passed.
#4 I just passed on her.

As T See stated, the other streets had no sure sign of activity although I did spot one lady that I think was working, from her movements, but I was unable to get her to approach.

So maybe the Salem report should be: they are there even in the rain, you just have to cruise and be willing to take what is available.

I have cruised Eugene & Springfield a couple of times in the last week and can also report a few sightings. Several ladies were in my 2-4 category and were definately not worth my stopping.

I haven't seen anyone on 7th in Eugene so I only use that street as a transit to get to the other end for another run on 8th or maybe 5th or 6th. I have occasionally observed ladies working the middle section of 5th from the market east and some almost to the 5th street Market area.

Springfield has dried up from last summer when I saw several regulars 4-6 category working the west bound street from about 24 to the west end. I have also spotted several on the west end of the east bound street, but most seem to be in transit to the other street. The further east the more likely you are to find a hispanic lady others WSW.

Gateway area between E & Sp occasionally has some by the markets and phones.

I have also visited Salem a couple of times with no luck, however I seem to be in this area prior to noon rather than early to mid afternoon.

Going to a girl's room has always been scary to me as i never know who is on the other side of the door. Any help on how to approach this type of date?

I've been rather surprised to see the recent reports stating how dead Salem and Eugene are for pickups, so I thought maybe I should give some tips on what I do. I've only been cruising since last March, so I don't know how the scene has been historically, but I'm cruising about 2 weeks in 3 or 3 in 4 (except for vacations) and have succeeded every week I've been out -- although some weeks I have to cruise 2 days. The only reason I'm not cruising 4 weeks in 4 is that I've now started doing phone dates for some of my sessions. All of the phone dates are with girls I met on the street though. I absolutely agree with Poobah that higher quality girls are more rare, and as I find them, I am making efforts to maintain contact. Others, that I am satisfied with, I will just keep my eyes out for as I do my normal cruising.

Most of what I have to say are things that I have mentioned in earlier posts, although my conclusions are now firmer than they were earlier.

First. Most working girls would rather not be on the streets at all -- they would rather work by phone with regulars. Higher quality girls will have more regulars and be on the streets less. They do have to work the streets though, since that's the easiest way to meet new clients. I believe that working girls are probably looking out for potential clients where ever they happen to be, and that this accounts for sporadic pickups in random places. When they are serious about finding a client though, they will head for the active strolls.

Second, and most importantly. Most of the time, the girls aren't on the street very long before they get picked up. Although they will complain about the time they were out for 2 hours, most girls I have picked up tell me they have been out for 15 minutes or less. Here again, higher quality girls will be spending less time on the street before finding a client. I know that when I go out, I will often set different goals. Some days I will take the first girl I find, but on others, I will require either a new girl or make a mental list of known faces that would be suitable for the day. Either way, I will be passing up some girls and they will be on the street a little longer. As an anecdote, I tend to see a common set of regulars on the street, but continue to meet new girls. They invariably tell me that they work the streets regularly. Why haven't I already seen them?

The Big Conclusion. If you are serious about getting a pickup, do short cruising loops through the just the most active stroll areas. If the girl is out 15 minutes, and you come back in 30, you missed her. I check out the less active areas as well, but I do it after I have completed a session. Although I haven't found someone (although I have seen them) , if something good showed up, you could always get their digits and set up a later date.

The most active stroll areas. It's all been said before. In Salem it's Broadway from Market to Pine, then Pine and Highland near the Broadway end. Especially be on the look out near the 3 convenience stores. Sometimes, Silverton Rd from Highland to the freeway. In Eugene, it's 6th, 7th and 8th from Jefferson to Polk. Scan the side streets as you pass. Girls will often do just a block on the main street and then back onto one of the side streets. In doing short loops, I am on extra lookout for LE. If they get close, I will leave for a bit and go cruise one of the outlying areas. In Salem, LE in an unmarked car will sometimes park near an active area and watch. If I see a suspicious car, I will leave for a while. Most of this is just caution on my part. Most of the girls believe LE is no problem, although in Salem, they are occasionally hassled as mentioned previously in the reports. It's my belief that most of the LE interest is probably drug related and not really about SW's clients.

Scorecard. I don't keep an actual log, but here's an approximate break down on where I'm successful (I don't care that the numbers don't quite add up). In Salem: Broadway 60% Highland 20% Pine 20% Silverton 5% . In Eugene: 8th 80% (includes side streets) 7th 0% (but the best way to get back to 8th) 6th 20 %. As for times, I can only cruise noon to 5 or so, but Salem pickups are almost always after 2 pm, Eugene pickups are more random in timing. As for availability, Salem seems more active than Eugene, but the girls are somewhat older. Both the girls I'm making phone dates with are from Eugene, so maybe the quality could be a little better there.

Outlying Areas. I'm not saying girls don't stroll outside of the active areas, but it's all about the odds. I have now seen working girls in Albany, Corvallis, and Springfield, although I haven't actually made a contact with any of these, and the occurrences have always been rare. If you wanted go cruise a little farther out, I would go farther east on 6th in Eugene and include 4th and 5th as part of the route. Springfield is so far away, that it doesn't pay to go there at all unless you don't care about making a pickup. In Salem, one girl told me River Rd in Keizer out past Broadway was active, and another told me she has done OK on Market. I picked both of them up on Broadway however. The problem with these outlying areas is that the girl might do OK there, but you might not, if she was the only one working there. As another anecdote, Silverton Rd in Salem almost counts as an outlying area. I've witnessed several pickups there and made two of my own. Of the two that I made however, one was sporadic in the sense that she wasn't actively working at the time, and the other was actually on her way over to Broadway. Some of these feeder streets could still be useful to cruise though, since there might be less competition from other potential clients.

Rooms. Beetle Bug in a recent post seemed surprised that the girl he picked up had a room to go to. My experience is that about half the girls in Salem have rooms to take you to. I don't do cars so that's important to me, although a friend in the next room can be disconcerting sometimes. This is less common in Eugene, but I think most girls can prearrange a room if you are scheduling a FS date.

Thanks for the lengthy explanation Poobah. Not much is happening on the streets, what happens elsewhere is spotty and subject to rapid change. My experience is much the same as yours.

Since I've lived here and had my share of fun, I'm gonna post on this once. Only once, since there isn't a whole lot to write about.

Eugene has action and had stretches where I had my regs. For the casual cruiser? I wouldn't waste much time.

As far as Springfield goes, I've never seen anything appealing in that area, so I don't know anything about it.

In Eugene, the stroll on 8th street is dangerous by that health food store. The owner has made a point to finger working girls (calling the cops). Supposedly will call in people making pick-ups too, but no way to verify that. Used to be a LOT of chicks in that area.

I rarely see anything worth getting even in Eugene. Most of my regs are by necessity. I would not be seeing them if there was something better.

Over the last three years, I'd say I have met 3-5 chicks worth repeating. I've met some by accident that I never saw again. Always try to get digits.

There are two really scrappy old chicks working 6/7 street. These women have been out forever. Gotta wonder why everyone else is always getting busted and they aren't. Maybe they are fingering their competition?

Here are a couple I thought were ok. They are still out there, although I've heard M. has turned into a rip off.

M has red hair and used to have a pretty cute ass body. She's gained a little weight. She's got issues, but I never had any problem with her. Back in the day when her boyfriend was in jail I got some great fucking bones from her. I wasn't paying her shit, and she'd stay like 2 hours! Ahh memories.

O was this really cute chick that is apparently gone, although hooked up with her last summer for a great night. She's small, blonde and overall doesn't really like sex but focuses all that energy in a GREAT BBBJ. I'm talking top 3 in my life folks. Most of the time I can take or leave a BJ, but there have been some masters in my life that can literally make me cum in about 12 seconds. This chick is one of them. Last time I was with her she got into the sex a lot more. Really flakey and lives with some hard-core Christian (!) relatives. Tried to get together with her twice and she flaked. Never tried after that and haven't seen her since.

K. is really tall, long black hair, and thin. She uses H though. Would have a very good bod if she stopped. I've can't stand that shit and go for the occasional BJ.

A few years ago it was MUCH better here. There were more women and nicer looking ones. Why this fucking police department spends soooo much time and effort to get a few remaining scrappy chicks (except for the two fugglies) off the street is beyond me. I had a stereo stolen out of my car. Dude left a piece of fucking MAIL in my car. Cops couldn't have cared less and no one ever did anything about it.

K just got busted by an undercover cop. How we have enough resources in town to cruise a 10 block area that is basically dead is beyond me.

Make no mistake. It is RARE to go home with someone of half-ass quality in Eugene. For me, I spend many times cruising that area and come up totally empty handed. Spfdl....pff... forget it. I ONCE had a chick about to get in my car that was waiting for a pick-up. Her ride showed up right as she was walking towards my car. After about the tenth time there I gave up. Other than that I've seen some horrible specimens in that area that make the fugglies in Eugene seem fuckable.

I remember one night in Eugene, I was cruising and could see this obviously fucked up chick wearing a coat, no shirt, and sweats. I probably would have kept going but you could see that drunk azz chick had a BOD on her, nice hard tits in the cold. I picked her up and she's blabbing about needing money to get out of town. She was loud, fucked up and ready to fuck someone for money. It wasn't great b'c it was in this small car, but ok!
This was about 3 years ago, LOL...

About the only good thing about Eugene is that the prices area a lot lower than Portland, fer sure. I've paid .4 for everything and never had any bitching. Never been ripped off here either.

I had an opportunity to visit Eugene and Springfield again Wed. On my first swing through the posted strolls about 12:30pm I noticed a young lady standing by a bus pick up and slowed while making eye contact. She nodded and I nodded back and pulled ahead to a parking place. She immediately followed and opened the door and got in. I then pulled away and turned to get off the stroll. We agreed on half half for 40 and she suggested an isolated stoping place for a visit.

On our way back she said that she knew of several girls who were working Eugene but that on the Tuesday noon news she had heard about a multiple district LE prostitution sting going on in Eugene that day. Thus she had stayed off the streets on Tuesday and really wasn't working Wed, but saw the opportunity with me. She also said that Springfield was harassing the working girls. She asked to be dropped off back in the stroll area and had previously complained about being cold when I picked her up, so maybe her comments about not really working were a lie. It also looked to me as if she was dropped off close by to a car with a guy in it just waiting.

Later that day I visited Springfield and can report that I did not see any other activity in that city either.

Some days you get lucky and are in the right place at the right time.

Saturday the 7th, the really foggy day in the valley, I had an opportunity to take a look at these two places while I was passing through.

Was in Eugene around 3:30 - 5:00 PM, and (I came prepared!) tried going up and down any street or area mentioned in this forum in the last year or so. Alas, while there were lots of places that looked like they would be the right kind of neighbourhoods, there were no SW's to be found.

Fast forward to Salem, about 6 to 7 PM. I made a few trips up and down Broadway. Nothing the first couple of times, but eventually spied a HSW between the RR Tracks and the 7-11 corner.

On my way around the block to get a closer look, I got caught on the other side of a train from her, and had to wait it out hte 5 minutes or so. When the train passed, she was up to the 7-11 lot -- I picked up Robin there.

She was 40ish, not great looking but passable, and just got in. When I suggested the back seat, she said she had a place. I haven't gone to their place in years, but I tried to be careful, and it worked out well. We had not discussed $ at all, and really didn't discuss anything on the way there, and only after she had started on me did we agree to two acts -- I suggested .40 and she took it. Might have even got away for less, if I tried.

The BBBJ was just fine, we covered and switched to her on top -- and she had more track marks all over her body than I could stomach at the moment. So we did another BJ and called it even. But I can't complai about the experience at all.

On the way out, she invited me to stop by her place anytime -- it has a seperate entrance. No digits, but address available.

However, other than her, I haven't seen any activity in Salem in a long time, either.

I visited the twin cities of E & S Saturday and made 3 loops of the common streets suggested as strolls for both cities over several hours in the afternoon and can report that there was NO obvious activity. I looked at several ladies who I though might be working but none would react to my parking and strong looking. I guess LE has truely dried up the activity or has chased it somewhere else and local folks are not saying where this might be.

I had a chance to drive the Salem strolls twice today and have little to report. I also drove Landcaster from Silverton Road and saw one young lady just walking from Silverton Road to south on Landcaster who gave my car long looks but she was not willing to approach or make any overt sign even when I parked ahead of her several times. I may have been wrong.

Just north of Gi Joes I observed a hispanic lady, about a 5 who was standing on the corner watching all cars going by and being friendly. Not my type, but I think she was working.

Took the all strolls in Salem this week between Noon & 6PM, several days in a row, absolutely nada, zip, zilch, this town is DOA. There are no service providers here. If somebody knows where they are hiding, please clue me in.

Was talking with a friend who just moved down to Lane County. He visited a strip club on Main in Springfield recently and got a $10 HJ. He just got back from Mexico and said the strip club in Springfield reminded him of the strip clubs there. Anyone who's been to a strip club in Mexico knows how fun those can be. Anyone have experiences. I can't remember the name of the place.

(btw, in Mexico he went to a strip club, bought a couple lap dances from a hottie, and then invited her to his hotel the next day, where she spent about 18 hours wearing him out. Never paid a dime. Cabron.)

Made the strolls Thursday late afternoon in Salem and Saturday midday in Eugene/Springfield. DOA, a real morgue. Nada, zip, zilch, bubkis...Not even a scraggly crack ho to be seen.

LE has their ass clamped down so tight, that if you fed them a piece of coal, they would shit diamonds, all the girls have fled to Portland. Alas, alas, its one more tank of gas.

It has been really dead in Lebanon, Albany, Corvallis, Eugene, Springfield and Salem. Absolutely nothing going on. LE ran a sting in Salem on Cherry a couple of weeks ago and nabbed 4 girls and 1 cross dresser. These towns, especially Salem, need an enema., the only action seen has been in Portland.

Finding attractive female company in southern Oregon is a different game than in Portland.

What doesn't work here: street scene or bar scene.
I don't think it is here, or maybe it is here but it's invisible to me.

What sometimes works, but very slowly: strip bar $20 lap dances, look but don't touch. Sometimes, after significant time and investment, and lots of dead ends, it leads to a private show, which is then expensive. Strippers and escorts are often have very different skillsets and comfort zones, at least here. They work in a look-but-don't-touch place for a reason.

What works reliably: young women who advertise on local sites. Selection is good, but limited.

What works, but isn't reliable: agencies listed in the yellow pages of the various books. YMMV.

Prices are expensive in relation to incomes. A rule of thumb over the past fifty years is that an hour of a provider's time in an area costs a day's pay for a average man in the same area. The median income for an adult male here is about $40,000/year, or $160 per work day. An hour of a provider's time is approximately $200-$250--a day and a half's pay for the median income guy. (Housing is not the only area where prices have grown faster than the incomes that support those prices. In a more open and transparent market, the price signals would attract more supply, but it hasn't, at least not yet.)
