There seems to be a few types of sites.

Permanent listing sites like Erotic Monkey good to trawl occasionally but you have zero idea how active a lass is or isn't. Separate post sites like STG and list crawler (better in other areas), pay per message sites like What's your price and seeking arrangement.

People using platforms like tinder, meet me etc.

Can't shake the feeling that like the Leopard and the Ethiopian in the just so story we need to start looking in other spots.

I've found that they may message you but they ignore you when you message back. Same if you message them. You might as well throw some money at it to try it. Welcome to the group. Even when the scene was better in VT, it was never really that good. But on the bright side, wherever you are in VT, you're within driving distance of the Canadian border. Assuming you don't have any past legal issues that will keep you from getting across, Montreal is less than an hour more away. And that is the promised land of high quality, reasonably priced escorts. I was up there a few weeks ago for the first time in a year and a half.
