FWIW this just happened to me too. It happened the first time I logged in after connecting to SA from another country with a VPN. Could be related? Very annoying although now the fake profiles won't be able to waste my time as easily.

I was in NYC when I logged in, but was not using a vpn, as I was using my phone. But that is an interesting thought. Now that imo back home, I wonder if it will fix itself?

Not 100% she's legit. She probably is. But I think she's a "get together when it's convenient to me / I have the need" type. She contacted me on SA and quickly went off site. Exchanged brief pleasantries and asked if I was free that night. Explained my schedule wouldn't allow it. Crickets for a week to that and my follow up until an out of the blue "are you free tonight" (after I'd already explained in detail that evenings aren't an option for me).
