Indeed, I can't recall the last time I picked-up and dated down that way, mostly booked with providers in motels / hotels but even that's been a long time. That being said, about six months ago there was a sting operation on International Blvd in SeaTac on the street. Not sure what brought them out or if there was a tiny stroll which was active enough to draw their attention to conduct a sting, but it did happen.

The Sea Tac section of the Highway has a very high number of hotels. I have seen where the police posted up girls working near the hotels and guys staying at the hotel would walk up and solicit the decoy. I have seen that a bunch of times at the Double Tree and Red Roof Inn. There are no strolls, they are just fishing for out of town people who don't know any better.

Other than that, I'm guessing that a lot of the arrests or stings are going to be hotels and motels in that area as well as massage parlors. While SPD in Seattle aren't really focusing on those venues, other agencies around King County might be.

That being said, arrests in the Seattle data file didn't seem to match-up in the King County data and there was a disclaimer on the file which I downloaded that there might be discrepancies. I focused on Seattle because that's mostly where everyone in this forum cruises. It'll be interesting to see what the rest of the KC data reveals.

I've got to say no. Pulling over or turning around down there is all but impossible, and the traffic makes it even worse. They've deliberately installed walls, trees and sidewalks along the entire stretch in an effort to curb hookers and the gentlemen that seek their services. From what I've seen, it's working: Very few ladies and nowhere to pick them up. Save your fuel!

I agree. These numbers are deceiving, there are no regular strolls in that area anymore. Those numbers, if accurate, more than likely express stings than guys getting caught in their cars. There are a few addresses that are not down south. Any address that refers 99 as anything other than International Blvd, probably not in the South End.

I have continued to look around at the different datasets that the county publishes online. I have analyzed and extracted the arrests for "Purchasing Prostitution" contained within the dataset called "KCSO Offense Reports: 2020 to Present".

I didn't know KCSO was involved in the stings on Aurora. Total arrests for Purchasing Prostitution since 2020 with the support of KCSO? 150.

Since the start of 2023 here are the arrests and there locations at each.

My guess is that LE cracked down because the girls were dressing way to scantily doing dumb things like standing in the middle of the street. Chances are a lot of guys were doing foolish things like throwing used condoms in streets. There is no surer way to rile up the locals then leave used condoms in the street. Leaving used condoms is red flag that someone has been there. It is rude and inconsiderate.

When I did my analysis between 2019-2023 (August / September), I found that the highest number of arrests for purchasing actually occurred in 2019, something like 89 total arrests. Most of those were on Aurora. Interestingly the number of arrests for purchasing actually decreased for 2020,2021 and 2022, something like 25 arrests for each year. That number increased in 2023 and I'm going to assume it's because business owners along Aurora banded together and started meeting with the Captain of the North Precinct. I also know that residents also started to complain to the city. Stings, or at least mass-arrests for purchasing, appear to have stopped after the city issued nuisance orders to the motels and street activity appeared to drop-off a bit. Regarding arrests for SWs (solicitation), the Seattle City Attorney's Office has stated that they won't prosecute sex workers, only alleged johns. SPD generally stopped pursuing SWs as a result. Most of the stings in the last few years have indeed occurred during evening commute time between 5 pm-9 pm during weeknights. Apparently one of the general problems is that since police were standing-by and present in the area and not arresting SWs a lot of newbie johns got popped because they thought the city had somehow decriminalized prostitution since police were not doing anything. This is what an attorney who works a lot of these types of crimes told me. This is an example to always be as knowledgeable and as informed as possible. But, this is how it's been done in Seattle and SPD, the wider aspect of King County is different. I'm aware that there was a sting earlier this year in SeaTac which netted some guys, but i'm not sure if other jurisdictions are pursuing sex workers or not. My assumption is that most of them are not. However, and as always, things can suddenly change at any time.

I picked up a girl around 2 am on one of the blocks from across the Oak Tree Plaza. I saw her standing in the dark off the road a bit so I thought I'd go and take a looksy. She was cute. I don't normally keep much in checking because of fraud and BS random internet subscriptions I forget to cancel. While I was transferring over to checking I didn't take out my card and after about 30 seconds or so when I was ready to go back to the ATM to punch in how much I wanted again. For whatever reason it's apparently typical for the jail to push-back. In that case bookings are conducted at the local precincts instead of the jail. I was told that the precincts are trying to get away from fingerprinting however it still counts as an arrest. Also to add as a point of interest, in Washington State fingerprints are apparently not required for misdemeanors nor gross misdemeanors so the arrests typically don't show-up in the state WSP nor the federal NCIC databases. Consult a lawyer on that to be sure, but that's my understanding.

The jails don't like to take people for really minor stuff and / or totally non violent / no criminal history people because of overcrowding and booking restrictions. As far as the arrest records go it'll definitely show up in the state databases. Every cop that runs your tag will see that you were arrested for solicitation until it's either expunged or sealed. As far as NCIC goes my understanding is that most misdemeanors don't get put into.

Another thing that is noteworthy is that there is not a single booking in the last 12 months for the time period in this dataset for solicitation of prostitution, purchasing prostitution etc or any variation of. What this means is that they aren't booking those arrested at those stings into a King County Jail. Probably just releasing them after processing them at a precinct or something or processing them nearby and releasing them. This dataset covers all adult jails run by King County which would be King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) in Seattle and the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC) in Kent.
