I noticed there is a debate going on in another thread. Since this is the place for debate, I will point out that crime is risky business. And if you are upset about a scam, committing a crime to, "get even" not only subjects you to the immediate risk of serious bodily harm, but a substantial legal bill and criminal penalties.

Let's consider the situation at hand. A scammer and her thug were holed up in a dive motel. The girl ripped the guy off. Sucks, I know. He did the smart thing from that point and got himself safely out of further harm's way. While doing that, he was confronted by the thug. Remember the game these characters are playing, the thug most certainly was prepared and ready to bludgeon should that opportunity arise. Thankfully our guy wasn't beaten or worse. I think we can all be thankful for that.

Now come the suggestions. Hey, why not hang around and cause thousands of dollars in property damage, that, by the way, takes quite a bit of time (tubs don't fill in 60 seconds after all). Yet, such action could only be expected to result in serious bodily injury, possible loss of life, and prosecution on a number of charges.

Yeah, sure, the fantasy of it all is bemusing. And I'm sure there are examples of robbed guys who have in some way "gotten even". But is that smart? Are you certain you'd like to escalate? Might it be better to cut your losses, share the info with the community, and make amends that way?

I still think it could be very helpful if we heard from RealMe about whether the girl he saw matches the pictures. That would do real damage to the way she conducts her scamming. Shame that has been lost amongst a silly debate in an information thread.

And please remember, most providers, and especially scammers, they are empty bags. The motel isn't going to sue and collect against them, they don't have money, credit, assets, or a job. But you, yeah you might be just the target for them to seek repayment for their losses. Even dirt bag notels are using surveillance cameras to record your face and license plate. This is getting ugly, fast.
