Promoting prostitution.

Since last year's new law sesta / fosta, promoting by advertisement or pr can be felony punished. Even up to federal charge.

Yes, but, promoting what? I don't recall any ads saying anything about sex or money in exchange for sex. They always said who was there, and had sexy pictures. I see ads for legit massage with sexy pictures also. Doesn't mean squat. They have him scared and he's singing a song, but there's no proof of prostitution, so, how do you prove promoting prostitution? How reliable is anything on his phone, if it's not on anyone elses? They have the burden of proof, and heresay isn't proof.

Watch what the gov does with this bill to limit law enforcement (police, prosecutors, etc) from just taking seized property including cash whether the defendants cases are dismissed or not guilty. Currently law enforcement do not have to return seized property, this bill would limit them to only seizing if guilty convictions and they would have to return the property if dismissed or not guilty. I can't help but think about the two charges that are prevalent in so many of these current arrests, promoting prostitution and owning / operating an illegal business. If no girls are arrested, charged and indicted on prostitution in a workplace, how can the owner be convicted of promoting? Wouldn't they need to prove one to prove the other? I think they'll all be thrown out without proof, and this website is only hearsay.

As for the ADA, he's trying to build a resume for election. He wants to be the the DA.

Agreed HPD has nothing to do with it. Even when they are there for busts its usually for presence or muscle if needed. CID and CRU need to lay low right now with the trials, they need to stay out of anything that could look politically motivated. And being that they haven't been present in itself proved its politics. Ever since Kaneshiro burned Vice with all those bogus charges that had to be dropped they too want nothing to do with it.

Charges are only charges, we have seen this before and it means nothing until a Judge says there is enough for a trial.

Keep in mind that the current elected Prosecuting Attorney is on leave and pending impeachment. His acting Deputy is not elected, so whatever his motives are remains unclear. But if I were a betting man, this is an easy exercise in making it look like you are doing something while the heat is on his office. Also to note, that about 9000 convictions are currently under review by the FBI. One must also mention that the last several raids have not included DHS / ICE, which screams political smoke screen.

HPD is not the ones behind this. It is all the Prosecutors Office. They even said it on TV, that they don't use HPD officers, cause they were dissatisfied with them, and they are using Special Investigators that work directly for the Prosecutors office.

Last I checked City and County of Honolulu Prosecutors office is a 4 year term and the next election is 2020. Hmmm. He's not getting my vote! LOL.
