Good tips Dark. The one I came up with, and have been lucky to not have needed it yet, is I'm looking at used cars. There are lots of used car lots wherever there are SW's. I'm not able to look during the day and I don't like to be pressured by salesmen anyway (they're usually closed that late). This explains why they might see me go east, then west, then east.. I even have a model I'm looking for dreamed up. And if they tell me not to.. I'll tell them they're not being very helpfull to the businessmen. I saw Lana at that same Conoco bus stop at Peoria. It might have been the same night but a bit earlier in the evening. It was Thursday around 9pm. She was with another chick though. Those are a couple of the rules that I have for myself and I've found new religion in following my rules after the rip offs I've had lately :-). 1) Never, ever talk to a girl who doesn’t get into the car first.

5) Don’t drive erratic even if it means missing the perfect girl.

8) Check your car after they leave for drugs and condoms.

9) Don't pick up girls who stay at one corner or bus stops.

10) Don't give them money until you are parked and ready to go.

11) Don't park or stay in one spot late in the evening, even without a girl in your car. Cops will stop and ask you what you are up to.

12) Have a good story ready for if the cops do stop you.

Here are a couple standard stories I use. When driving around late at night in the wrong part of town, cops will sometimes pull you over just to see if you are drunk. Now, they'll find something you did wrong, light out, running a stop sign, etc. These stories are only for when you don't have a prostitute in the car. If you do have one and get stopped, about all you can say is that you were giving her a ride. But if they find $ or she gives you up, that isn't going to help much. My advice would be to never admit you paid for sex, even if they tell you that they will let you go. Cops lie.

Since I've been stopped several times without a girl in the car just to check on me, here's a couple stories I've used. You'll have to come up with your own details, but you should have this planned out prior to the cop asking you what you are doing out so late. Also, if you aren't a very convincing liar, you aren't going to get anywhere with any story you tell. Cops know when people are not telling the truth.

- "I was just giving a friend of a friend a ride home. We were at a party and I was the designated driver. I just dropped him/her off and now I'm heading home." You shouldn't try to elaborate too much. You don't know the person's last name. You don't have an address since they were giving you directions and you aren't very familiar with this part of town so your not exactly sure how to get back, etc. You don't want anything verifiable. The beauty of this story is that you are being the 'nice guy' by giving a drunk a ride home. Cops will appreciate that if they believe you.

- "I was just out for a drive. I have insomnia and sometimes driving helps relax me." Simple, but they probably will still think you're looking to score something, but they won't be able to do anything about it and they can't refute the story.

Hey, I just got lucky, again last nite. Granted, it's really putting a dent in the check book, but, I'm throwing out the old rules and if I see something special, I go for it. That philosophy is paying off.

Actually, I do plan on coming your way, hopefully soon. I recently got into motorcycle riding (after the divorce in 2002) and plan a ride to key West. I'm also looking at property to purchase for my retirement. had property in Navarre, but the ex got it in the divorce. I was stationed at Homestead, when it was a 'real' AFB. (77-80) but, I'm sure a lot has changed. (especially south Beach) We used to go there and watch the old people get hit by cars trying to cross the street, from the hotel to the beach.
