Had my day in 32 second court yesterday…wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, although I got what I expected plus more. There were 3 gentlemen who had the privilege of being called up for me. The first cat had to describe in full detail of what took place on the day/night in question(little embarrassing) by the time they got to me the full description came down to “I picked up a girl and offered money for sex”. I got $ 500 fine plus an extra $25 for the court appointed lawyer fee’s, I also had to attended an AIDS awareness class being help at the court house that day, The class got canceled yesterday because the instructor was a no show, so I get to go back one more time to finally put this past me. The court appointed lawyer said to plead no contest and I will have to just pay a fine no jail or community service, also no record if I stay out of trouble for 6 months.

The funny thing about yesterday in court is out of the 4-5 guys I saw arranged, every one of us all got the same shite…$525 in fines and a trip to the AIDS awareness class. There where 3 girls who also went before me for “flagging cars/johns” they all received $100 and no AIDS class.

I knew I was in trouble when I first stepped into the court room and gazed at the name tag on the bench…FEMALE Judge…SHITE. Judge Judy asked all of us during our time at the stand “are you prepared to pay the full fine cost today”? I was very glad I brought my cash with me.

I almost forgot to mention I was in and out of court, went in at 10AM and was paying my ticket at around 11 AM, only trouble was I had to be back at the court house at 2PM for a stinking AIDS awareness class. I ended up walking over to Greek Town and ate a huge lunch then off to the Casino. Of course I didn’t win shit (bad karma maybe); to make a short story shorter I dropped $200 on the slots. For the day I racked up a $525 ticket, a $200 gambling tab, a $25 lunch/dinner and had to pay $8 for parking, a rather costly day I might say so myself.

If you don't have a lawyer, which is a big mistake, check with the court appointed attorney. He will let you know the best option for your plea.

If you are told you will not get off with just a fine he will probably advise you to plead not guilty. At which point you will want to hire a good lawyer who knows how to get you off with probation and a fine.

NWest, when I got busted up here in Lansing on a sting, I pleaded nolo contendre, or No Contest. Of course I did have a paid lawyer with me at that time. It made a BIG difference, between having a misdemeanor on my record and a citation which was removed upon the completion of my probation, which included 20 hours of community service.

If you can't afford a lawyer have the pub defender enter a plea of No Contest for you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The burden of proof is always on the Police. They have to prove intent. They have to prove the crime was committed, and lets hope you didn't relinquish your right to remain silent and say nothing during your arrest.

Pleading guilty and hoping for mercy is just that a very big hope, based on rules designed not to favor the little guy without any money for high priced lawyers. Hey, if you had a 2,000 dollar an hour attorney, He would have them backing down on entrapment and violation of constitutional rights...of course he would tear their reasons for pulling you over to pieces, too.

In my experience with getting tickets the courts generally give additional time to pay the ticket if you request it. Just make sure you make the request to the judge or magistrate that issues the fine, not the people at the counter. They don't have the authority to extend the payment. Most courts are in it for the cash and will do everthing possible to get it for the least amount of money. If you willingly pay up there happy. If you don't it cost them more money to send you notices, issue warrents and to find you. Arrest you and put you in jail. They will do it, but pefer to get it the easy way.

Same thing applies to the SW round up with mongers. It been awhile since I checked but it cost maybe a couple of hundred bucks a day to keep someone in jail. Can you imagine how much it cost to jail 25 sw's for 30 days? Consider that a good number of the sw's may have medical needs, they have to be fed, legal representation provided (most can't pay for that, we do) and security must be provided. The feds are monitoring the system and Detroit is already telling the feds that they can't afford the upgrades. What you currently see is LE responding to increased media profiles on the problem.

We all know that prostitution will never end. We all know that mongers will never go away. We just need to realize that LE must respond to the problems like (guys soliciting regular citizens, condoms found in front of someones house) Mongers just need to be patient and wait for the heat to go away. It will rebound soon enough. I have really slowed my activity because of increased LE presence. If trolling and I see 2 LE cars in the area I keep on going, try another area completely or stop for another day. Better to be safe than sorry...

I will be off to court early Tuesday morning…needless to say I am not looking forward to this.

I will plead guilty for solicitation (having a SW in my car) and hope for the best. I am assuming the absolute worst meaning I am preparing to get hit with the full 5 hundy, especially after the new reports of the price going up for SW’S and for Johns.

Anyone know if Detroit will make me pay the 5 hundy on the spot or will they give me a month or so to come up with the loot. Thankfully it just so happens I have some extra cash but it’s still going to hurt short term.

Should I expect to “smile for the cameras” on John TV or is it too soon for that?

Another two dozen SW were rounded up, this time along Woodward. It seems like fridays are the days the vice squad is in action. Also the city of Detroit has obtained the rights to "John's TV" and they plan to start running episodes on Comcast cable very soon.

Channel 4 News just had a report that there is a crack down on prositution on Woodward Ave. They did say the fine for both SW and Customer is $500.

According to the TV news, 25 women were busted last friday but they didn't say where. Each of them had to post $500 to bond out. This might end up being a good money maker for the city of Detroit. And it will surely stop out-of-town SW from setting foot in the city.
