I used to get those types of threatening messages when I was in California. I might text an AMP to see what rates were. They respond and ask if if coming. If I say something as simple as "I'm just checking prices", I would get a text later on from someone claiming to be with the cartel. They said I need to compensate them for wasting the girl's time or I (and my family) would be visited by them. They would follow it up with some pretty sick images of decapitated and mutilated bodies. Of course they want the funds sent electronically. Once I messed with them and said I wanted to meet in person to give them the money. After that, I didn't hear from them. It's just another scam to get money for nothing.

They're pretty fun to screw with if you've got a burner number. Had one send me a bunch of sick pics and I replied with a 100% genuine pic of the inside of my gun safe with the caption of "bring it". They ceased all communication after that.
