Well, since the spa didn't do anything illegal, or ever do anything illegal they have this guy dead to rights. They only imply they will do something illegal, then when they have your 300 dollars the truth becomes apparent. He should have sued for false and misleading advertising instead. When they have ads that say things like The naughty kittens need you to lick them, even my Mom would assume they are offering something that's not legal.

Man threatened to blow up spa in Roselle, police say

Published December 14, 2004

A West Chicago man was arrested Friday after threatening to blow up a Roselle spa and explosive devices were found in his car and home, police said.

Matthew Kamrad, 35, of the 900 block of Ainsley Drive allegedly went into the Lake Street Spa before 10 a.m. Friday and threatened to blow up the place unless he got an immediate refund for money he had spent there, the DuPage County sheriff's office said. After a brief conversation with a spa employee, Kamrad left and the employee called 911, the sheriff's office said.

The employee gave police a description of the man's vehicle, and a sheriff's deputy stopped Kamrad about a half-mile from the spa.

The department's Hazardous Devices Unit found an explosive device in his vehicle, the sheriff's office said.

Police closed Lake Street for about 20 minutes while bomb technicians removed the device. A similar device was found in Kamrad's home, the sheriff's office said.

Kamrad was charged with one county of attempted robbery and was released from DuPage County Jail Saturday after posting 10 percent bond of his $15,000 bail.

The sheriff's office is still investigating, and a spokeswoman would not comment further.

Kamrad's court date is Jan. 4.

Gooch, and all-

In a nutshell, Some guy wasn't too happy with being ripped off in the all too familiar manner we know of these places. He threatened to blow the place up. The spa called the Dupage sheriffs who stopped the guy about a 1/4 mile away. He was still steaming at that point. They called in the bomb squad, closed off Lake St (rt20) for a 1/2 mile each way, and searched his car. Found one explosive device alleged to be a bottle rocket (paper report did not say what it was) They then searched his home and found a couple more explosive devices. I heard from someone that they were pretty tame 4th of July type.

Here's the text of the story about the poor sap who was ripped off at one of Roselle's finest jack shacks. Any of us to whom this has happened knows how he felt, but he's an idiot to think that this would work. Now he's got a bucket full of expensive LE problems. More costly than the $$$$$ he dropped at the Lake Street Spa.

I wouldn't even waste your time with these places. They have suckers-a-plenty in every day who keep them going. If you make the offer of 25% down, I'm sure you will be flatly refused. It's never been about the service at these places, it's always been the money. They know you'll either be servicing yourself or you'll be leaving with blue balls. Neither will result in the other 75% being paid, much less any additional tip.

It's 100% up front, or you're outta there. Yeah, they may be upset for a few minutes after you leave, but guaranteed, there'll be someone in right after you to become the next victim.

Great Idea. I had the same thinking a year or so ago. I visited all 4 spots in that 1 mile stretch of Lake St. and walked out of every one. Although, I never had the plastic out. I will give your approach a try. I think I will offer the asked amount, but then I will insist that I pay only 1/4 up front, and the remainder afterwards as a tip. That will give me the out to leave. Weeble is right, let's play the game right back with them.

I would offer $40.00 cash upfront for a "NUDE, FULL SERVICE" visit with the girl, with the remiander afterwards, and then see what happens.

I was crusing down Lake, and was fairly well dressed, so I had an idea. I pulled into Lake St. Too and pretended to have never been there. I was talking with Brooke, who was trying to convince me to come in. She even gave me half off ($40 for the hour).

I kept pressing for info on the price, and she said it varies: their standard line. She asked what I wanted to pay for "full-service," and I said I hoped to spend less than a grand on the day. I had my credit card out at this point, and she kept reaching towards it and saying she'd put it all on up front.

Then some guy came storming out the exit (not through the lobby), popped his head in and said "Don't bother with this place. It's a rip." I guess he got taken. Brooke said that he tried to offer $50 for fullservice, so he was mad (as though she would know when she'd been talking to me). Anyhow, I used that as my excuse to leave, and she looked disappointed.

It was great fun making her think she was getting something she wanted, knowing the whole time that I was going to deprive her at the last minute. Maybe we can start a pattern of baiting them this way. If you've got 10 spare minutes, give it a try.

I bet there are some rich suburban chumps that think that these ripoff jackshacks are the greatest thing ever. If these places legitiamtely don't break the law, they shouldn't get busted, and quite frankly..commened for being successful.

The reason we hate these places is that THEY KNOW that they imply more than a massage with the same code words that AMP's or SW's use. They also appear from the outside to be the type of place we like. (late hours, neon signs, advertise in Sun Times <wink, wink> ) The ripoff is that most people would never pay $200 + for just a massage. It is that bait and switch that is the most offensive.

On a side note, I have heard some local strip clubs now using the same tactics to get in the back room. DO NOT EVER give a credit card number to a jackshack or a strip club.

The reason these places never get raided is very simple. There is nothing illegal going on!

They make a fortune with the new sucker born every minute and provide no service that would get them busted.

You cannot complain to the cops that they did not offer you an illegal act, no matter how much you paid.

At least anyone who reads this board should know the score on playtime etc.

I'm glad to see some guys out there are spreading the word about these places. I visited Playtime chicago about three years ago, long before I knew about this board.

Lets just say it was my first time and definatly my last time. we definatly need to spread the word to attempt to put them out of business. I beleive the PD dosen't bother them since they really aren't breaking any rules.

You will never see me in one of those places again, unless it just to play mind games with them. LIsten to Chi Guy, his warnings are all accurate.

Too bad your post of aliases cannot be kept at the top of the thread. So future mongers will easily see the info and not get ripped off.

I'll never forget my one and only experience at the little rip off joint on north ave near 355. I had a few drinks in me and I new better but the alchohol took over and it was late. Other AMP's were closed at that time of night on a week day. I remeber laying there unable to touch the girl and the pathetic excuse for a massage she gave. As I stroked it I figured I would make a mess and get some of 200 dollars worth. Just I popped I aimed it off to the side so she had a little more clean up to do. She was really pissed. This was about ten years ago. I left there feeling like I had been totally ripped off.

The guy who runs those joints is a sad excuse for a human being. He is the lowest form of life on this planet. It's amazing a place like that can operate with no hassle from LE while deceiving and ripping off everyone who walks in the door. While a service provider who actually offers a service for a fair cost and both parties part feeling good about what just took place has to hide from LE continues to amaze me.
