The republicans have sent the Senate over two hundred bills and Harry Reed has buried them and won't bring them to vote. You are right about ACA but name one other bill that was ever passed by only one party and when questioned Nancy Pelosi said we must pass it first then read it to see what it says. As for FEMA we saw how effective they were in Katrina 10000 temporary homes / trailers with held while people were learning to swim and Ray Nagins who has just been put in prison because the money sent down to build and reinforce levees was used for cut rate materials and pocketed by Ray and his croanies. BTW it was GovernorMary Landrieu who refused to evacuate NO and the coast and the idiots of Louisiana made her there Senator who VOTED for ACA and now won't even meet with Obama when he came to fund raise for her. NICE My suggestion A2 is put this in a political thread because after the midterms the repubs are going to control both houses and then let's see what Brother Reed and his croanies do when he is put in the back of the bus and can't do what he wants how he wants. I think the Republicans are doing a great job of being obstructionists. They have control of the Lower House so very little has been done. Given that, what President Obama has been able to accomplish has been miraculous. He may have the title, but the right has done everything to make sure the White House has as little power as possible at the price of the welfare of the American people. Case in point. For 5 years after Katrina, the red states of Louisiana and Mississippi sucked on FEMA resources and federal emergency funding. 1 week after Hurricane Sandy hit the Eastern seaboard and devastated NewYork and NewJersey, the same congressmen from LA and MS who were asking for more hurricane relief just a few months earlier, were now on the House floor pushing to defund FEMA and the federal funds removed from the budget. Why? Because Gov. Chris Cristy shook the black man's hand when he came to inspect the damage.

Name one other bill in the history of the nation that has been tried to be repealed as much as The Affordable Care Act.

No one is saying Obama isn't smart but he is definitely a weak, incompetent president who has his head in the sand. Maybe he should be participating in a "think tank" somewhere to benefit society with his intellect? He should not be representing the US. A college professor and a law degree is not really that impressive of a resume for the presidency. The stock market performance is largely due to low interest rates and quantitative easement, which is a FED policy that has been going on prior to his presidency. There is nowhere else to put the money. The US economy is cyclical and would have improved at some point no matter who was president, but unemployment is still relatively high and the jobs that are available are mostly unskilled, low paying ones. The economy would have come surging back without the stimulus and the shoring up of the union pensions. A pre-packaged chapter 11 would have done GM & the economy much better.

As far as Bush creating the crisis in housing, you can thank two Democrats by the name of Dodd & Frank for the Community Reinvestment Act in 1994 which basically said everyone deserves a home and pressured lenders to make loans to subprime borrows, much of it racially based, and by large part federally guaranteed by Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. Bush's mistake was he didn't eliminate the Act. But that would have made the press vilify him even more. Obama is still getting a pass by the press. If Bush were faced with the border crisis, the IRS Scandal, Benghazi and the foreign policy situations in the Ukraine and Gaza, the press would be crucifying him. It's too early to claim healthcare as a victory because the employer mandates haven't hit yet and it hasn't been determined to what extent people are being subsidized by the government of being placed on Medicaid. Obama could care less about the average guy. He is all about politics and ideology. His solution to illegal immigration is just a Democrat voting registration campaign. I'll bet your favorite reading is Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky and Saul Alinsky?

Funny, his law degree was supposedly from Columbia University, yet no grads there will admit to having known him, or been a member of his class. I could go on, but this is not a political forum. And by the way, the DOW is breaking records and housing prices are higher because the money they are printing out of nowhere has to find a place to roost, that place is primarily housing and stocks; and when the financial collapse which inevitably comes from printing money out of nowhere comes, (unless Obama or the next moron starts WWIII first) you will get a chance first hand to learn about economics. I usually save my political commentary for other sites, but I couldn't resist responding.

Barack was never a "Law Professor" as you and his supporters continue to claim. He was a "guest lecturer" for some classes at University of Chicago School of Law. He never authored a single law as US Senator and never held an executive or management position before being elected POTUS. His record on unemployement is abysmal, as we have now reached the lowest workforce participation rate since the Great Malaise period of Jimmy Carter's regime. For those of you in Rio Linda, that means we now have the smallest (lowest) percentage of work eligible Americans employed than ever before (and the highest percentage of Americans on the government dole). The "Unemployment Rate" does not count those who drop out of the workforce and give up looking for work as "unemploeyd". The stock market is being artificially boosted by our borrow (at zero interest) and spend like drunken sailors monetary policy and will eventually collapse. Housing is rebounding because of population growth from illegal immigration (increased demand -economic forces BO could probably not understand). And no, health care coverage has NOT expanded to more people under the ACA. It's only become more expensive for those who provide it (employers) and those who can afford it (the shrinking ranks of the gainfully employed).

You forgot to throw in the old campain line "Osama is dead and GM is alive", although Al Qaida is now stronger than ever and GM has set a new record for recalled autos.

My apologies, Glock but I have to respectfully disagree with one point. Apparently it does NOT take any special skills and / or experience to be president. Case in point, we have a community organizer (whatever the fuck that is), jr senator who has never had a real job running the country into the ground. And don't anyone say the stock market is an indicator he is doing a good job. I could be living in a mansion, driving a Mercedes and eating Filet Mignon every night by just writing checks on an empty account. The national debt will be 22 trillion plus by the time Hillary takes her turn ruining the country.

I respectfully disagree. I am neither a half-wit, a moron, nor stupid. Your point about the "let's see you do better" defense is appropriate in some circumstances but not in others. There are at least two exceptions as to when the defense is appropriate. The first is when the activity criticized takes no special skills. Using your example of a coach, a CEO, a doctor, a judge, an athlete, or the president, these are all activities that take special skills. Very few people have them so the "let's see you do better" defense may not be appropriate because everyone knows that you don't have the skills. It becomes a meaningless defense. But taking pictures doesn't require any special skills. Anyone can do it. Just point the camera and push that little button called the shutter. The second example of when it is appropriate is when the criticism is communicated directly to and is a personal attack on the person. If you are in a crowded bar and say that Bruce Springsteen is a lousy singer, you might start an argument but no one in the crowd is likely to ask you to do better. On the other hand, if you are at a concert and see Springsteen and go up to him and say to his face that you are a lousy singer, he may just hand you his guitar and tell you go on stage and do it better. In the present case, Sam communicated his criticism both personally and directly to me. He now seems to say that he was just making innocent remarks and wanted to see something different. But he called my photographs "gross" and "a turn off. " I think most guys would take that as a personal insult. I think I am entitled to defend myself anyway I deem appropriate. As I said before, anyone can take photographs. My "let's see you do better" defense was both invited and properly invoked. In this particular case I am focusing on the man, because it is the man who is attacking. Besides, this is the Octagon. Where else can I call someone a Shithead and not be placed on moderation.
