I am always suspicious of new posts that have a non-local area code, or no phone number at all. If it is a spammer, they will probably only post in a city once or twice before posting to a different city soon. When they eventually decide to post in a city they posted in before, it will be with different pictures and phone #.

There are definitely some providers that have non-local area codes that are legit. In those cases, they stick around. The numbers are probably their real number and they just don't know how easy it is to get a free texting app phone number with a local area code.

If they have been posting for a few weeks or more in one city and a reverse google image search doesn't find other posts in different cities, they are probably legit.
