There's absolutely no constitutional right to not be offended anywhere. If you are offended by something you choose to be offended by it. No matter how right or wrong the person is that said it. The rights that people do have our to say whatever they want whenever they feel like it. And typically there are consequences for their actions of running off at the mouth. But I'll say it again. If you are offended it's because you chose to be offended. Why would you let somebody else's words bother you? Sticks and stones. We were taught that when we were kids. I have melanin in my skin in that stuff doesn't bother me in the slightest. Nobody attacked you personally so you shouldn't be bothered. But again you choose to be. So that's on you. This is my open letter to anyone who chooses to be offended by words.
You don't know what people have been through in there lives. Maybe it I'd more than the melanin in your skin has. Maybe it wasn't just words. Maybe these were yelled at him while being beaten by whites. Or maybe it was yelled at him while they put a noose around his neck and threatened to hang him. So please stop telling someone how to deal with things that affect them. None of us know what the next man had been through. It's rare we have a personal relationship with the next man on here. So just respect boundaries. The guy who said it apologized. Why are people like you trying to defend it still. Some people felt offended, others didn't. If you didn't, be quiet. Simple. Last time I'm wasting time on this. The guy already said sorry. So all is well with me. Just stop trying to tell people how to react, or don't react to being offended.
But context matters too. "Knuckle dragger" does, in fact, derive from (erroneous) pop culture conceptions of primitive humans as knuckle-dragging subhuman "ape men". Think cartoon depictions of squatty Neanderthals with a club in one hand & dragging a woman by the hair with the other. So I have to agree with Sparkish & A2.
On the other hand, white supremacists & racial bigots have a long history of taking it only the tiniest step further & charicaturing black people as "subhuman" primates, such as monkeys & gorillas.
So, yeah, it is a phrase fraught with potential meaning. I am also a native Southerner but have never heard "knuckle dragger" used in a racial context. Simian & other primitive culture-derived phrases like "spear chucker", yes. But I can definitely see how this one could land wrong. That whole series of Geico "even a caveman can do it" insurance ads are a clever play off the intrinsic similarity & offensiveness of racial stereotypes.

I had a dream about Deanna Diamonds Talked to Deanna on the phone, She smelled of smoke. She is a junkie. Her service is rushed and uninspired. Her face is the only thing going for her. She has Substantial baby damage or stretch marks to midsection and boobs saggy. She looked older than the claimed age in the ad. It got the job done, but we were done in a little over 30 minutes. Then a few days later she called me and asked me for more money. I said no! Then I went on a vacation. My house that was broken into. I saw 2 black guys on the camera taking my shit. I have a strong feeling it was her and drug dealers. Why do you guys keep on seeing her? Is because she doesn't screen clients and she sees people left and right she has rotten teeth and rotten soul why do you guys keep on seeing her she has stupid that have filters pictures. She stays at low budget motels All she does is smoke crack and use people. She has no future. No one will ever love her. She has robbed customers, she has beaten up customers, she had blackmail clients. People use her every day. She was just a ***** with men that abused her. She has no dental plan or life insurance. She has no place to live She doesn't love herself so she hurts others. She takes from others because she is jealous and mental unstable. You will be in and out of jail her whole life. She can post all the pictures of her face, body and cheap clothes. No amount of makeup will ever fix her. She is rotten inside and out. I can not wish harm on her. But, karma is a *****. I do not know what God's plan is with her. She is not blessed. She is a loser. She has no pride or respect for others or herself. Normal people do not go around destroying other human beings.
You ask why WE all see her when we have read all the bad reviews? WE don't. YOU did, and you invited her into your house? You apparently read all the posts on her so why see her at all?
Just because you think something to be true doesn't mean you get to tell somebody what is in their mind. I have used the term "knuckle dragger" my entire 60 years and never once thought of it as having racial attachment, it means a large brutish person end of. When I use it I'm thinking of large hairy white guys wearing wife beaters. If you google the term most of them are portrayed as white cavemen. You're claiming that because it's used in the context of "baby daddy" that it's a racial slur except lots of people use the term baby daddy to refer to a man who is the father of a child who's mother he is not in a relationship with. I have a friend of mine who was born with more money than 20 of us will ever earn in our lives who is white as the driven snow and attended not one but two Ivy League Universities who is raising a child with somebody he's not in a relationship with and we always refer to him as the baby daddy.
If you need to virtue signal do it elsewhere, if you think there is an issue with a post then report the post. The only person who broke the rules here was you by calling him out on a review thread. If you had any integrity you would extend an apology.
A2.
P.S. Before you write me and demand that I delete your account and posts because your panties are wadded no. Keep stupid shit like this on the fight thread.
Just because you have been saying it, doesn't mean it was right. You were wrong. Whites used it as a racial slur. Now depending on whether your a racist or an asshole or not, maybe you'll stop.
I have used knuckle dragging moron to discribe an idiot for most of my life! Have directed it towards idiots of all races but when I picture it in my head I see Jeffro from the Beverly Hillbillies! Not everything is about race! Maybe you should take a step back and look at how you are not helping with the issues by creating unnecessary decent! Probably talk in a movie theater and yell racists if your asked to please be quiet by a white person! It's not the color of the skin, it's the inconsiderate nature of the person wearing it!
You need to stop telling people how to feel and just respect the fact someone saw that as offensive. The person who said it apologized. Leave it at that. Just like some women are ok with being called *****, not all are. So you won't do it and tell them to relax. Stop telling POC how to react to being offended and just stop offending. Why is that so fucking hard? Doesn't matter if you've been saying it all your life. You were wrong. Now you know, it's up to you to change your behavior. Depending on who u are, you will or you won't. The majority of us don't get offended that easily. So if we say something it means we really felt strongly about it. How come whites can say make America great again but as soon as blacks say we don't like something we're being sensitive or unreasonable. GTFOH.
While that CAN be a definition, the context leaves little doubt that he was referring to him as a gorilla or some other racial reference. I was instantly offended by it the moment I read it, and I'm not easily offended. There are many things said on this board that are insensitive and frankly disgusting, but most don't violate the Etiquette or terms of this form. I think more people than not would agree this was intended to be racist. Personally, I am not in the opinion the comment should be redacted or removed because it helps weigh the mindset of the poster. This helps you determine how you would like to interpret their experiences as compared to how you may view the same experience.

It may be a racial slur but he clearly made it clear that it was intended to be. I'm sure he's learned not to use that term anymore.
Umm, you do know that's considered a racial slur don't you?
I see my term "knuckle dragger" may have offended some. For that, I heart fully apologize, as it was in no way intended to be understood in that context. I've NEVER heard it used in that context. My intent was to describe a big burly alpha male (without reference to his race).

For whatever it's worth, I was born and raised here in the south (Georgia) and have heard the term used quite a bit in my life. It is absolutely a racist term against black folks so I agree with this post.
