Comparing our first lady to an ugly black prostitute IS representative of the same HATE which has been spewed in regards to the race and look of the president and first lady for the past 8 years. Melania actually DID take those photos so comparing her situation to that of the situation of our first lady is invalid. When will people realize that what we say has meaning. Our country doesn't have a communication problem at all. I think the people who voted for trump understood exactly what it is he said he was going to do. National ban on all muslims, deportation of millions of hispanics, and perpetuation of the stereotype that anyone who is not Caucasian is potentially a thug. This is how the day after the election minorities throughout the country have been harassed and how women have been sexually assaulted because of someones need to "grab them by the pussy". Yes what people say has meaning, except you want it to have the meaning that YOU give to it. I have been a progressive all my life, well since I was about 19 and proudly voted for each Democratic Candidate since Mondale UNTIL this election when I choose to not vote. I literally saw no candidate that was worth the effort of taking a bus to the embassy to vote. I am literally disgusted by the reaction of the left in this election. They put up a shitty candidate who had absolutely no platform what so ever and when they lost they are blaming everybody but themselves. A friend of mine (another progressive) said something while we were having coffee the other day that I have been thinking about ever since. We were talking about why Trump might have won and he asked me a question "can you name one policy initiative that Hillary proposed?" I couldn't, she had no message. Additionally after 8 years of listening to my fellow progressives complain about obstructionist politics nearly all of them are calling for exactly the same.
