The only thing we had that was helping the common worker was Unions. Yes Unions. Yet somehow Republicans and their mouth pieces convinced right wing voters that Unions were bad. When NAFTA (engineered by the Papa Bush administration though signed into being by Bill Clinton) was introduced it was a slap at harming Unions nothing more nothing less. After that it was off to the races by shipping any and all manufacturing plants to other countries. We are caught in this conundrum because one side says Unions bad while the other can't get it's act together. While Unionized workers become less and less. Divide and conquer has already occurred we're just waiting for the last shovel full of dirt to be placed on top of the grave of worker rights.

The average person has no idea how important unions are. Even for non union workers. Unions have gone too far in some cases with stealing money or helping loser drug addicts keep jobs that don't help the company at all. But at the end of the day the benefits outweighs the bad shit. I start looking back and everyone knows Republicans openly fight against unions. Democrats are vocal for unions, but they actions are different from their words. Looking at actions It's like all the politicians have the same goal, they just publicly say different things.

Bottom line is unfortunately your right. It's probably a lost battle, we just about completely buried.

I don't think Trump would have made much of a difference, however. He, like Biden is no friend of the working class regardless of what he claimed. They're both con-men in their own right. Remember the CARES Act that was suppose to benefit the struggling working folk but somehow instead resulted in benefiting the wealthiest corporations and individuals far more. That wasn't an accident, and Trump signed it even though he said he didn't like the bill.

You are absolutely correct in understanding we need to be fighting on the side of the working class and that's something neither the Dems or Reps are there to do. Their shared goal is to fracture the working class as much as possible in order to prevent that fight! Be well, stay safe.

I didn't get any raises except for cola for 10 years, then they let me go during covid. Recently they are begging for me to come back with a 33% raise. I will probably go back to work, but I don't need to.

if you haven't gotten a raise, you need to get an offer letter and threaten to leave. there is a recession coming soon when the fed has to raise rates faster to fight inflation. be in the right stocks and your savings will grow in the mean time.

I don't "like" Biden, didn't vote for him either. He's too much of an establishment moderate. But I'll take him over that embarrassment of a President Trump, he's the real con man. I hate Trump. More desireable assets will increase more than that and less desireable assets will decrease less than that. The inflation you experience will depend on what aspirations you want in life, the higher your aspirations the more inflation you will see. If you want to live in an apartment and eat hot dogs you'll see much less inflation than someone that wants to buy a vacation rental a Kardashian would want to show off on instagram.

I don't agree. Inflation is affecting lower income levels in a very real sense. If you are an apartment dweller you are seeing much higher rents. Food expenses are much higher. It's persons who can least afford it that are getting hurt by this the most.

Now the new mantra from the Democratic party is that inflation is Putin's fault. Most people aren't that dumb. Some are, but the vast majority aren't.

Now imagine you are a country that takes out a loan of $10 B and have to pay back $12 B eventually. Where does that extra $2 B come from? You have to export $2 B more than you import. Now imagine you are the USA and you are importing more than you export because that is your foreign policy you are forcing on other countries. That means you are buying more things from other countries and selling less things to other countries. The glut of imports decrease prices in the US, the dearth of demand for exports decreases demand for US made things. The only industries that survive are industries that cannot be provided from other countries.

If you are not familiar already, look into the Petrodollar. Not something most Americans have any knowledge of but it is in serious risk of falling apart and more relevant today than ever. Countries are beginning to seriously fight back against US bullying and it isn't going to bode well for the US. Corporations run this country and are supported by both Dems and Reps who are nothing other than their puppets.
