By reading the Specs on this Drug, its supposed to be 92% effective if you take it every day of the month for HIV-1 (again it makes no mention of preventing HIV-2, but I think HIV-1 is regarded as the main and most prevelant type of HIV)), but like Tylenol, it seems some of these drugs (and alcohol of course) can be bad for the liver. I think they cause Fatty Liver. The tricky thing is that a lot of things can cause fatty liver. Even if you take no meds, and eat a lot of carbs, it can cause fatty liver, usually called NAFL (non-alcoholic fatty liver). My understanding is that NAFL is pretty much just a diet issue, if you avoid the carbs, then the NAFL can kinda go away over time, but fatty liver due to too much alcohol, maybe too much tylenol, or other drugs, I think can be a worse situation. The problem is that I think with the simple blood tests like the ALT, it can be elevated, but its hard to tell what is elevating it (diet, or certain drugs).
