Not so super Super Bowl match up

For those who might be pondering a last minute trip to the Super Bowl, this may be the year. My buddy who lives in LA told me today that there's a strong buzz going around town that ticket prices may decline sharply by next week. Most fans were expecting at least a #1 or #2 seed in it, instead there's two #4's. Who would have thought that Cincinnati would get there? A few did, but not many I suppose, I thought KC, Buffalo or Tennessee. The Rams are good, really good, but where's the "Bay" teams? 49 ers, Green, Tampa. The networks aren't too thrilled, neither are the scalpers, maybe there's a bargain out there for all those long time NFL fans who want to cross out a big one off of their bucket list. Congrats to 2 very exceptional young head coaches, Sean McVay and Zac Taylor. Who would have thought just a week ago when Timmy Chang got hired that at age 40 that he's older than both Super Bowl coaches. Hard to believe that Sean McVay who coached in the Super Bowl 3 years ago is still just 36. Good luck to all, hope your team wins or better yet, win your block pool!

    5 star

Watch the transfer portal at its best USC back from the dead. And Coach Chang get one legit 5 star the only one in maybe forever. Hawaii no land 5 stars but this redshirt. Freshman is legit.

Way to go coach, you way ahead every other coach before you.

    First TD SB Prop Bets

SB props are always good fun. Been placing first TDs every SB and actually hit once on Alshon Jeffrey in the Eagles / Pats SB (IIRC think it was +1200 ish). Two I'm eyeing this year:

    Rams: Odell Beckham Jr +1000.

    Bengals: Tee Higgins +1200.

No real reasoning / analysis to back it up, just fun bets to make for a degen like me LOL. For reference the favorites to score first for both teams respectively are unsurprisingly Cooper Kupp (+550) and Joe Mixon (+750) who did not score against the Chiefs in albeit a catch up game. I might be wrong, but I think in the last 3 SBs the betting favs didn't score first. Goodluck!

KBs good for SB pool if can find but gottta get 'em fast kine, $20-100 block. Sometimes get guys who like bet the side with odds (no juice; tie push) or totals (tie push); can find guys who like the money line instead of the point spread so got to know the money line, too. GL and keep it friendly, LOL.

    SB Opening Line: LAR -4; o/u: 49.5

Final Crying Time (3/4): CIN 27 KC 24 (Win: CIN; Lose: Over); SF 17 LAR 20 (Win: SF; Win: Under). Scoop: DTcruza, Da Champ. Going LAR and Over (subject to change) for fun, SB LVI. GL to all and party safely.

If the Bengals cover, then going 49 ers / under; if Bengals no cover, then going Rams / over Good luck and party safely.
    Cincinnati +7 / Under 54.5.

    49 ers +3.5 / Under 45.

    LFG!

Just another screwup, June Jones is a well proven success story, but no another stupid choice chosen over a much more qualified coach. So now, UH Football program is again headed down the same path of Fred VanOpen's legacy of having the longest losing streak, maybe we'll even break that record?

    Change is good

Nice observations bros. New Stadium is already done--Ching Field, LOL. Make it shine. 50 years ago field of dreams was going to Aloha stadium. Now time thanks to. Manti, Tua, Milton the field of dreams is streaming live on the national stage.

Hawaii no more leaders or forward thinkers in office. Was good for COVID to have a slow thinking slow moving governor, saved lives. Not good for build a new concept. Notice none of the so called expert law makers talk about infusing tech into total experience. What happened to the Formula 1 track? That's one fascinating blend of tech, streaming, competition, international appeal, etc. Guarantee make more. Money than Pro Bowl of Whatever Bowl, LOL. The other football also has global appeal. Housing make. Sense, stadium not really. Hope the new Blasidell big enough for concerts. If not, time we built an iconic destination within Diamond Head on on Ala Wai Golf Course that can be used everyday by locals. Wonder why no more protect Mauna. Kea on Diamond Head, LOL.

Never understood why Stadium was empty and off limits to taxpayers to use most of the time.

I would think this would be a win win for all, UH the State and its people. No need hotels an more retail in central Oahu. Need more affordable housing and that is it.
Yes, I will miss tailgating, but I'm sure I can evolve and find a good bar or neighbors garage to enjoy the games and support the team in spirit.
Good observations and commentary. Attendance, utilization and more live access to games at Ching Field for UH sports needs expansion; live streaming of games, PPV, etc. Get the right bunch of good people, large projection screen, potluck, etc. , and no need see live games all the time. Garage partying / viewing / getting together good enough (no need spend that much kala). Yard, garage, patio, living room, lanai, whatevers.

Kicking the Can Down the Road

The Future of Aloha Stadium, Insights on PBS Hawaii, a year old discussion and insights of the plans on the table. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2EhGwhga3E.

Wakai says it is not going to be Rail 2.0 HAHAHAHAHA! It may not be exactly, just due to different funding. But it will be another burden like the Convention Center, Aloha Tower and Aloha Stadium of old, poorly planned and when completed, underutilized and in need of funding to maintain.

With ground breaking plans for Aloha Stadium now, sometime in 2023 and with no one willing to commit to a completion date. Along with the Rail, that is supposed to provide transportation to the venue, where half the State does not live by a Rail Station and not even going into Waikiki for the tourist, to be completed by 2030. There are just too many plans up in the air all at one time and most of it is just wishful thinking. So for UH to rely on the State to provide a world class usable venue on a timely basis is impossible.

As the UH fanbase currently averages not more than 20,000 per game, and at 6 games a season, maybe UH would be better off just doubling their current capacity at Ching field. Maybe even use the Baseball field as an Amphitheater to handle the overflow. In the off season it could then be utilized to generate other income streams as well. As the program has no real stadium to play in, how will it be able to gain the revenues, without a large venue to play in. With promises of a new and greater venue in the next few years, well you know how that goes, going to be poorly planned, plagued with delays and cost overruns. Just like other projects in the past, to name a few, H3, Aloha Tower, Convention Center and the Rail. That is Hawaii's history of incompetency in leadership. Such grand plans are on the table, but do we really need more hotels and retail in the area? We need affordable housing first. A little off the subject, but relative to the problem.

It will probably not be completed in Timmy's tenure. So might as well take the cheapest way out for now. A quiet and humble local boy who will do his best and not make a spectacle to the media of all the things that were promised to him and did not get when things go south. Like the predecessor's before him, he will just leave for greener pastures.

So no Jones and no Miano.

Idk, J. J. Is our best coach.

However, during Jone's tenure here, his character was always an issue. Further, he unexpectedly bailed on Hawaii at first chance for money at another school, leaving UH's football program in shamble ever since.

Given UH's football success is reliant on the successful recruit of locals, Chang is the better option since he has ties to community, as well as first hand experience going through the process. In addition, he has experience coaching at several programs. UH made the right decision.

Jones suing the school is just sour grapes. He should just walk away because no one wants him. If his service is needed, he shouldn't have a hard time finding a HC position. Instead, he decides to take the sore loser route and sue. I'm so glad he is not the HC, and his true color revealed itself with the lawsuit.
    J. J. Was and prolly still could be our best coaching candidate, the university is in need of money and Jones is the guy to do that. Why wouldn't the university want him to take over with a longer term contract, he's proven himself. Matlin is making decision based on fear, why would you hire a coach then tell him he couldn't hire this guy or that guy? Matlin admitted that Miano would be a problem because of his strong desire to be the head coach at Hawaii, like that is against the law, why would he be so defensive about someone having a desire to be the head coach here, shouldn't be be applauded. How can Miano be a problem for Timmy and Matlins plans for the future? Matlin is the boss, that is his job to keep Miano under control and tell him where to go should he start a campaign on his own for hc. And that's a big if, that hasn't happened and may never happen. Yet he goes and he ties the our best candidate hand with rules like that, what's up with that? Does he really want success here, I think he does, I don't question Matlin s heart, but his actions seem divisive.
