I love Deadwood-a great, complex show. Plenty of visceral thrills, plenty of food for thought. Great stuff.

As for a Deadwood party. What a great idea. How much fun that could be.

Something so sexy about taking those layers of victorian clothing off a beautiful woman.

The Girls of The Gulch Are Gone!

Well, with a heavy heart, I report to you that the last legal brothel experience in Deadwood, South Dakota was finally closed down for good. The town had finally past legislation that in 1981 that prohibited the opening of any new brothels, or saloons that offered the soiled dove experience (an escort that role-played as an 1880's saloon girl) from opening, but grandfathered any current establishment to continue the operation. This was only done by state and federal pressure. The town leaders enjoyed and winked at the historic tradition, and of course levied a healthy tourist tax for those that indulged that generated a great source of revenue for city coffers.

This was a very unique experience. It was quite a tourist attraction. For a fairly decent fee, you could get dressed in authentic costume, sit at a bar and sip rye or sarsaparilla, or even at a gaming table or take in an old west birdcage show while beautiful painted ladies toured the room and plied their trade in attempt to get you to rent love for an hour in one of the authentic tavern rooms upstairs.

Last week, a joint operation led by Homeland Security, ATF, FBI, and the SD Bureau of Criminal Investigations descended into town in a caravan of black SUVS, jumped out with sledgehammers and axes, and literally tour apart the entire the one remaining establishment, Pam's Purple Door Inn, under the guise of The PAtriot Act because of the "eminent danger" that the establishment posed to national security.

I wonder if Ormsby County and Carson City are next on the list and Dennis Hof and the Moonlite Bunny Ranch are next.

Of course to mourn this tragic occurrence, I pulled out my box set of HBO's Deadwood and started watching it. I was immediately struck by how striking a resemblance our own Molly Daniels has with Trixie actress (Paula Malcomson) :

Also it occurs to me that Sasha Black could very easily pull off Alma Garret (actress Molly Parker) :

So this begs the question, who would play Joanie Stubbs and some of the other old west hotties? Is anyone up for a dress up Old West Brothel Theme party where we could perhaps rent out a rustic cabin, watch some Deadwood, play some poker, and of course play a few other old west games in private?
