Yes, there are a lot of scams and bad people on those sites.

Right off the bat, if someone favorites me or sends me a message without viewing my profile that is really suspicious and kind of weird.

Second, the photos. If the photos are obviously not from around here, and especially if they are from someplace like Italy or Greece give it all a miss. At best 99% of the time they will have unrealistic expectations and be obnoxiously entitled.

If they are either really evasive about giving you a phone number or paradoxically, give you a phone number in their first couple of messages, that is a scammy smell.

Once you are switched off of messaging on the site and in contact via phone you can both exchange photos and at that point you get a clue what she really will look like.

Girls who switch cities around are to be avoided.

If you discover they have lied to you early on just remember that is only the first lie and will never be the only or last one.

Use tineye to figure out where else their photos have been. That can help you find fakes and also can help you figure out if she is just a regular working girl looking to overcharge you.

Favorites are near useless unless they live near you and are obviously not a fake account (you can usually tell by name as they're similar). I wish they let you ignore views / favorites if they're X miles away from you. 90% of stuff on SA is scams / pic sellers / etc.

Diamond tier is pointless, it's just a badge. You can get 33% off premium with codes found in this forum.

Catfish definitely exist, especially the aging. You can see who is verified, but the only real way to check is to ask someone nicely for a hard to fake selfie or something. Another good metric is that their worst profile picture is how they are AT BEST.

Helpful stuff. I too just joined for the hell of it. Need to find a discount code as it's worth the $70 ish bucks to just dick around a bit. Definitely focusing on the non-model types and older ladies that aren't just college kids hoping for a shopping spree.

Probably 75% will be scam and spending $300 for Diamond isn't even worth it. Most people on their are lying about their life and income anyhow.

If there's anything I learned, it's that guys here exaggerate about their findings too, so I would take much of what you read with a grain of salt outside of a few notable posters....

Also everyone's standards are different to where I'd have to be be paid myself to see or touch some of the people I've seen on SA (whether that's through poor looks or their shitty personality). However, like the saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure and whatnot.
