Where are the hot Cincinnati SW's?
Just a rant here. Why is it that all the pictures I see from other cities show VERY HOT SW's, while here in the 'Nati we get stuck with mostly crack heads and worn out skanks. I have seen only a few sws that are on par with some of the pics I see coming from other cities. I have had the luck of hitting on a few gems, but they always disappear as soon as they get here. I guess LE has all the good ones on the run making it only a last chance thing for many of these meth addicts. I'm probably spoiled from my early days of mongering in LA, where the women were at awesome. Even the tranny's there were smoking hot. I need to take a road trip back to LA and see some hotties, but until then, there is always Google street view mongering while I'm here at work.
Re: I see that we have begun flaming again
Randyman,
Glad to see you posted this here in the Rants, Raves, and Opinions Thread.
These are just my opinions and I'm only trying to provide constructive discussion.
In response to your points:
1) You are correct that some of the folks flaming are some of the one's responsible for "polluting" the review threads with asides and comments that are not strictly relevant or strictly review-oriented. However, I disagree that it makes finding useful information harder to find. The updated site has a much more powerful and usable search than it did before (more on that below). Even if you are just cruising the "last couple of days" for intel, you can pretty easily scroll past any "BS" that you don't want to read. And, it is not that hard to go through a couple of pages of posts pretty quickly. You can always use the "ignore list" feature to filter out posts by members that you consider "polluters".
2) I wholeheartedly agree that this site is for sharing information so that we all don't waste our money. But, as I mentioned above, I don't think it is hard to search this site for info. And, I DO feel that all members should at least attempt to find the information themselves before asking for help. Ignoring the posts asking for information about previously reviewed providers doesn't help anyone (the person asking or the rest of the board). Just PM'ing them or posting useful info for them is also a bad choice. Why should you take your valuable time and do the work for them when they can easily do it themselves? Don't reinforce lazy behavior.
New (and some old) members need to learn how to do the research themselves or PM someone requesting help. These questions should not be taking up space on the board. We who have provided the intel by posting have already done our part. We have shared our information. After it is out there, it should be up to each of us to do our own research to find that intel and not expect it to be handed out on a silver platter.
I agree that the members asking these questions do not deserve to be flamed either. They need to be taught!
How to Search USASG
Rather than copy / paste my previous post regarding searching, refer to my post entitled "Searching Suggestions" in the General Reports thread (#1619 at this point in time) from 12/02/2010.
http://www.usasexguide.info/forum/showthread.php?3977-General-Reports&p=1099627&viewfull=1#post1099627 (link subject to change)
If you have a good search term, it is very easy to use this method to weed out all of the extraneous posts that you might otherwise have to scroll through to get to the posts you want. This method also gets you right to the posts and you can avoid the 60 second delay between searches. If you don't have a good search term, it can still be hard to find the intel you want no matter what.
Lastly, I want to say that there is nothing wrong with asking the board or specific members for help. Actually, I encourage that. I just believe you need to try to find the info yourself first. Search here; Search Indys or other sites; Search with Google; Check images with TinEye; and then ask for help or additional information if you can't find what you are looking for yourself.
When folks ask questions about previously reviewed providers. I would just point out that:
1) The folks doing the flaming seem to be some of the very ones responsible for polluting the review threads with useless BS that makes useful information that much harder to find.
2) While I too used to get p*the off at people making these requests all the time, I have come to realize how hard it can be to find info here and that the people asking really may not have limitless amounts of money and would like to make the best use of it, which is kinda why this whole thing exists.
So just stop being whiny little be*s when someone asks and either ignore it, PM them some useful info, or post some useful info.
Just My Humble Opinion (Well maybe not so Humble LOL!)
I will start this off by saying that while I am not the most seasoned member of this community, I am certainly not a Nubie. I have almost twenty years experience in the hobby in one form or another so I do feel I have a reasonable view of our hobby.
First: I do think we need a vehicle to moderate ourselves. I don't think it can be one individual but a small group of respected members could achieve what this community needs. Unfortunately we must face facts, not ever member here (Including Me) is a card carrying member of Mensa. If you need to Google Mensa to find out what it is, you probably will not be granted membership. Some of our members struggle to spell correctly, let alone comprehend the meaning of all the post. This is not a flame or me throwing arrows it is just a fact that is inherent in every open forum on the.
Second: I don't think anyone here is trying to inhibit anyone's privilege to speak their mind, just to try and make this particular board a worthwhile community to facilitate hobbyist in their endeavors. Don't forget if you are entitled to post what is on your mind, others have the very same freedom to post their own comments on your post so you can't have it like Burger King 'Your Way' where you get the freedom to post what you want but others are denied the very same freedom to speak their mind regarding what you posted. If you don't want your posts critiqued, unfortunately your only option here is not to post. That also is your right.
Third: I am an avid admirer of the Street Walker Hobbyist. I feel that their 22 Rules of Street Mongering are far and away the best instruction model I have seen in the hobby. As I suggested (I was the first to bring it up, so those of you that bristled at Jry Wild1 for bring up the 'Now there need to be Rules for the hobby! ' comments please direct them at me not him. I am a big boy I can take it) Escort Hobbyist need a similar set of rules in place for those that wish to use them. For those that don't wish to use them, good luck you may need it.
That being said, the Street Walker thread has it's own share of dribble (Recently nearly a half page of posts backslapping with Poondaddy / Pino so please don't throw stones, we all live in a glass house here. Luckily for the Street Walker thread there are just fewer people posting on that thread and those that do are typically more experienced than the nubies that post elsewhere as the nubies tend to play it much safer (I totally understand the whole is it really safer to see an escort verses following the 22 rules argument) so this eliminates a lot of the dribble that the other threads experience.
Forth: If you don't like the state of the board by all means work with others to change it. Don't leave, don't go into the background (Yes I am guilty of this also) and for God's sake don't be part of the problem be part of the solution instead of constantly bitching and gripping. Join forces and fix it. It can be done if everyone will stop being an individual and be part of the community. I have admitted my guilt here but I also have been working behind the scenes to improve the board.
Just my humble opinion,
KG
