I'm so paranoid about it I gave up car service
I don't know if I am geting too old for this hobby or just too dumb. I learned early on that girls love to rifle through my glove compartment. Cosequently, I usually keep tissues and a can of Altoids along with a flashlight, registration, and owner's manual. Today an escort found something else in my glove compartment: a fully operational crack pipe. Not only have I never smoked crack, but I had no idea what a pipe looked like. The girl I was with was delighted and promised to dispose of it for me, but I had visions of a family member finding it or worse, LE asking for my registration and I curiously examining it. At one time I laughed at guys that I thought were too careful. I'm not laughing anymore.
After finding a charm bracelet on the floor, a roach (pot, not the bug) on the seat, a handful of condoms next to the seat, and having a girl spit my load on the car floor I figured it was a sign to stick to in-calls. I still like to cruise and see what's out there and if she was spectacular I might make a scoop but otherwise no. Stories like yours are also why I keep the proof of insurance and registration on the visor and would never consent to a search of my vehicle.
Best choice for a hobby phone?
So, my trusty tracfone took a crap and I'm considering using Google voice instead. I'm looking for your opinions on the pros and cons or better options for a new hobby phone.
Stick with the burner phones
I'd feel safer with a burner than google voice for the mongering number.
While gVoice is nice and convenient to swap from phone to phone to laptop to desktop and back, it is a lot easier to piece together how all of these devices are tied to one person.

Burner Phone. Get ulocked GSM phone
So, my trusty tracfone took a crap and I'm considering using Google voice instead. I'm looking for your opinions on the pros and cons or better options for a new hobby phone.
I bought mine on eBay. Started with an LG Quantum Windows Phone (slider phone with a touch screen) - made sure it was an unlocked AT&T GSM (SIM card) phone. You can search the web, make calls and texts easily. Paired this with an H2 O SIM card (also bought on eBay, you can get them as cheap as $1-$2 shipped) with the cheapest pay as you go plan - $10 and it's $. 05/ min for talk time, $. 05 / text, $. 10 per mb of data and it's good for 90 days. After every text or call they tell you how much is left in your bank. When it gets low it's easy to load online. I filled it 4 times in the past year and had time that wasn't used. You can also just buy $100 worth of time and that's good for an entire year. Same rates, that's 2,000 hours of talk!
There are other providers but H2 O worked well for me. Good thing with the SIM card is if you ever think you've been compromised you can literally change your # in a matter of minutes without leaving your home. I actually bought a lot of 25 of the H2 O sim cards on ebay for $5 shipped.
