I think it is time that we, who are called hobbyists, began to understand their role in the “hobby”, we, up to this point, have been unaware (I speak generally), of what our exact role is in the economic endeavor. We are, simply and crudely put, the demand. Our sisters in this economic endeavor (providers), are, also crudely put, the supply.
The job of the supply is to meet the needs of the demand, a basic law of economics and business. As demand it is our job to let the supply know what our likes and desires are. If we don’t do our jobs as demand, supply cannot do its job. Demand is the driver of this economic system!
We complain incessantly about women who “let us down”, don’t do GFE, rush us, bad attitude etc. There are suppliers out there who are not meeting the expectations of demand but are finding adequate supply to stay in business. This has to stop! This can stop in Boston because of the vehicle of this letter, the information superhighway, the internet! We, the demand, know who these providers are, we are guilty of supporting them. Grant it, a provider, who is new can “shill” a few of us who are willing to “take one for the team” but those providers should not be allowed to stay in business! We are driving the bus fellow hobbyists! We are the demand and need to be sharing information, anonymously of course. If you are not sharing market information freely, you are causing the market to favor supply in not meeting the needs of demand! You are the reason that you had that bad experience and got screwed! Everyone who is reading this has answered a GFE ad from someone who, when they met them, acted like they had the plague.
I am not looking to be the savior of this hobby but I realized today that we are our own worst enemy. We try to keep the gems to ourselves but keep looking for the diamonds in the rough, the women that write a great ad but don’t live up to it.
I visited a place today that advertises in the Phoenix, and has for a long time. One of the Quincy places (number ends in 5693). The women was beautiful but rushed me big time and had a guy waiting at the back while I was escorted out the front. That is not the kind of service that I demand!
Step up hobbyists, be proud to be demand, but only if you live up to the responsibility of being demand! The beautiful ladies that meet our expectations will flourish. The ones that don’t will wither.
Let’s band on this. Let me know if I’m right, or full of shit. Providers, would you like clearer direction?
I am going to post this on several boards. If I missed one and you would like it posted to yours, e-mail me.
