Read the charges.

One is a retired police capt. One a former city director and the other a former city councilman. Akron has shut down a few clubs for bad activity. And as time has progressed the 3 "untouchables" are slowly becoming touchable as people are forgetting who they are. Give it time, you'll see the same thing happening there too.

OIU Sep 29 media release
Here is another media release from the Ohio Investigative Unit on the raids at the 3 strip clubs:
http://www.investigativeunit.ohio.gov/Sept29-Dayton-Trafficking.pdf
Along with the arrests and charges at the Harem, there are charges against Sharkey's and The Living Room that could affect their liquor license.

Long term investigation?

Those old dogs in Akron have been influenced. Look at their circles, who hired them, who made contributions to their campaigns, organizations and causes.
Old dogs either eat the new up and comers or are eaten when they do not conform to the new ways.
Just about any bar or club that gets busted is a front for some organization. Follow the $ and the players!
Believe me I have seen it over the years. 1st hand!

Living Room
After reading the OIU report I personally don't think the Living Room will suffer much. The food stamps and drug counts against the Harem is bad and I would look for it to go vacant for awhile. Sharkys might just be on the bubble depending on who exactly was charged with what inside the establishment. Some of those charges are balloned as LEO likes to do and it will all come down to who presents the better case. Some of the sex charges may for example be one undercover agent paying 2 girls to play with each other. A nono in a strip club in Ohio but also a type of charge that would be tossed out. Time will tell. Maybe I get called for jury duty? LOL.
Stay safe.

I was referring to the smaller dive bars around South St. and Main St. In Akron rather than the bigger ones along Brittain Road. I do remember when Lisa's Cabaret was hopping. That place was just a brothel. I've walked in there a couple of times and was propositioned for private dance fun within the first 20 minutes of being there. The small dive bars, their "VIP" area is a small room with a curtain. As long as the owner isn't around, anything goes. Like I said, the cops know what goes on there and they let them be as long as there isn't a big drug precense. Being from that area, you can still see some form of Mafia (They hang around North hill) influence within the police and city government even if Don P, "The Don" as he was nicknamed, isn't mayor any longer. A big construction company and a big garden nursery, their owners have ties to boys in Youngstown who are still around.

The smaller mom and pop places still have ties to the larger.
I learned a lot frequenting the dive bars. Learned how to run #'s, place orders and how not to get stabbed!

Nude dancing isn't illegal (god bless the 1st Amendment), but violates liquor regulations. That why Baby Dolls was a dry club.
I've had nude private dances at Sharkey's, years ago. I'm guessing that was still happening.

illegal sexual activity
It's my understanding from talking to a couple of the girls involved that the " illegal sexual activity" in most cases was a violation of the "6 inch rule". There is a law in Ohio, I'm told, that there can't be any physical contact. So the undercover guys go in, get dances, and after building some trust ask to buy drugs. One of the girls simply pointed out someone who would sell pot, that was charged as " drug trafficking". My guess is they will keep doing this every year until there are no clubs left in Dayton.

The Media

I haven't been to any of the clubs in a number of years so what I remember has faded. But as what I was getting to is any charge made like that for illegal sexual activity will likely get tossed out. Even though an undercover officer made those charges its very difficult to prove and more he said she said unless they were using electronic surveillance which under FCC rulings would be illegal behind the curtains, LEO or not.
What I have noticed is that in the OUI releases the charged the girls with Illegal Sexual Activity but the local media is telling their story as Prostituion. There is a difference in those charges.
Once again I feel the media is up to no good and trying to outrage the public more for ratings and quite possibly for political means. Mr. Heck has been one of the media darlings for a long time and he used that to rid that area of a few trouble spots in the old Notels. He would be smart to go after a few more of those instead of the clubs. At least the clubs make more taxes for the city but he is probably caving in to those who are against the clubs. Makes me wonder if they won't go after 101 sometime soon again.
Stay safe.

6 inch rule
First, I think the strip clubs laws in Ohio are really convoluted and they seem apply differently depending on whether alcohol is being sold, the dancer is on stage, giving a private dance, etc. I recall hearing about the 6 inch rule and I think it came about the same time dancers in Ohio were required to wear pasties. I know that law applied when dancers were on stage. But I did not think either the 6 inch or pastie rule applied to private dances. I could be wrong which would not be surprising. Anybody care to clarify this rule and whether it applied it private dances? Thanks.
