Re: Long lines, passport card
If I come back early in the afternoon, should I expected a long line at the boarder getting back to US? What do you guys use, passport book or passport card? I need to decide which one to get.
I have tried late in the afternoon and the wait is terribly long. Avoid rush hour if you want to keep your sanity. Last week I returned early in the afternoon and it only took 45 minutes. Two days later I even tried a morning visit, returning at about 12:30 PM. It took only 15 minutes, my best time ever! But the selection of SWs was not as good, and who wants to play that early anyway.
I have always used a passport book, which is bulky in the pocket, so I'm thinking of applying for the card.

Side note:
When I approached the U.S. border crossing agent with a pleasant greeting, helpfully turning the book so the word "Passport" faced him, he stared at me glumly and said:
"Open it and turn to the identification page".
Oh man. Is it me, or can't I expect someone to accept a document they issued me and handle it any way they want, without a petty order like that? Perhaps yet another reason to get the card. ;)
