From one Paddy to another, no need to use the escort adds & wastre the extra $$$. Oakland is not that scary ( I know becuase I'm white as Wonder bread.) you do have to be careful of LE & thugs.

The main drag for action is San Pablo Ave between downtown (Grand Ave.) & 45th Street about 2 blocks N of 580 sometimes I venture further North on Sanpab before pulling a U. The key is to be patient drive up & down the street get a feel for the area you'll spot ho's before to long. Many are filthy crack ho's but if look long enough you 'll find a gem. This is my first report but have good info for all to share

I do not get into SF but mainly Berkeley/Oakland area and use the various massage parlors there, so no streetwalker info from me.

Be aware that Normandy and Golden Gypsy in Berkeley are CLOSED DOWN

Golden Gypsy has been closed down for about 8-9 months now and doesn't appear that it will ever be coming back. This is a tragedy of major proportions because this was THE premier spot to get action in Berkelely (in my not so humble opinion). The place was on Telegraph and had been there "servicing" the community since 1972, but I guess some Berkeley cops got a bee up their skirt and decided that 19 years was enough! They always had some of the best looking ladies, all races with a large majority of cacausian women.

Street Action in East Oakland.

About a year ago I stumbled upon a SW on East 14th (International) but farther southeast off Hagenberger. Not where I normally expected any action.
I always looked in either E.14th between 1-30th streets or San Pablo Ave.

I took advantage thinking it was a streak of luck.

Today I was going to "shop" the latter part of E 14th and decided to stop off at Hagenberger. To my surprise (since I never see it on the WSG) it was loaded with a lot of variety. (variety of body and quality, not skin color)

The locations I spotted a lot are off 880 exit Hagenberger, go East to E14 and turn right. Between Hagenberger and the Walgreens on E14.

Also on Macarthur Rd several blocks east of E14th. You can take and of the side streets all the way to it. On Macarthur between about 70-80th streets I saw a lot of SW's out.

I guess none of you are shopping there or I would have expected to see more about it here.

Glad I found it. I picked up an ex Spectator advertiser who stopped when she moved to San Diego for a year. She just got back. She advertised under the name Lexus. - Yes I think she spelled it this way like the car versus Lexis.

I think you may have just missed the spot. From Hagenberger and south on International I have picked up girls, and East on MacArthur, however this last report you are refering to is farther north.

Off 880, exit Fruitvale. Once you are on International (E 14th) the strip between 1st and about 40th streets I saw them. Also on and around Fruitvale a few blocks up the street up to 20th.

Well, I just shop the street. When I find one I like I pull over.

Depending on the type you pick will make a difference if she will be nice, rip you off, give you what you want etc.

You should be able to smell a cop SW a million miles away. They are usually really clean looking and agressivly waive you over and then typically wont get in the car.

I look for the more mellow girls that are more to them selves. Not looking all around and waiving about.

Then I pull over and roll the passenger window down so they will see that I intend to pick them up.

If they ask what you want I just ask if they want a ride.

She was a cop.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, led by the vice unit, set up an extensive sting operation Thursday to crack down on prostitution in Bay Point. Four sheriff's deputies dressed up as prostitutes and took turns working the corner looking for unsuspecting johns.

"We haven't been able to do a john sting in a long time, so the prostitution problem has gotten a lot worse," Cpl. Andy Van Zelf said.

Deputies had arrested 16 suspects by late Thursday night.

Van Zelf and his partner, Sgt. Mike Hubbard, know many of the working girls in the county by sight or by name.

"Most of them have a drug addiction of some sort," Hubbard said.

The two vice men and a host of undercover deputies spent the afternoon staking out prostitutes along Willow Pass so it would be clear for the decoys to go to work. But they were able to arrest only two before the sting began.

Hubbard and Van Zelf said prostitutes along Willow Pass are not pulling in large amounts of cash, and may take just enough money to get their next fix. The decoy prostitutes Thursday night offered oral sex for as little as $4.

The Sheriff's Office pulled together more than 20 officers for the operation including the four decoys, several undercover deputies to watch them and a team of uniformed officers to make the arrests. After a decoy made contact with a john and made sure he was going to pay for the sexual act, she told him to pull into a nearby vacant lot. The police would then converge on him, arrest him, take him to a makeshift command post in a nearby industrial park, book him and cart him off to jail with a group of other busted Romeos.

They also impounded his car.

Hubbard and Van Zelf said the sting was in response to citizen complaints about prostitution in the area.

"It's a quality of life issue for the people that live out here in Bay Point," Hubbard said.

The four decoys, who asked that their names not be used, said that less prostitution means less disease being taken back to families.

But the deputies also had some fun with the operation.

The towing company that hauled off all of the johns' cars Thursday threw a barbecue at the command post.

The crimes of prostitution and soliciting a prostitute are both misdemeanor felonies, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine. Before 2002, the Sheriff's Office conducted about one prostitution sting a month, Lt. Charles Skuce said. But Thursday's action was the first sting in 2003.

One suspected john said he just picked up a girl and gave her a ride and some money and didn't know she was a prostitute.

And one of the suspected prostitutes said prostitution is her personal business and should not be illegal.

This is Darwinism at it's finest, weeding out the moron Johns. This is why I always, always,always do more than one pass through an area that I am cruising. You have to get a feel for the situation. It's been about 10 years, or so, since I worked in Oakland and haunted the stolls. I am sure that much has changed and much has remained the same. Let me recount a little history

The going rate for a bbbj was 10 and h/h was 20. One provider confided that if you paid more, you were being ripped off. CIMWS was customary with mints being handed to the provider as a matter of courtesy. I have met providers that would extend credit. Buying them a milkshake from time to time seemed to soften 'em up a little.

There was a certain professional set of street ethics to be followed. SWs that ripped off customers often times ended up dead. It must not have been good for business. One day I mentioned to a regular provider that I had not seen one of the girls lately. I was told that she was dead. A former customer ,whose wallet had been lifted, recognized her and she didn't recognize him. The guy picked her up, pushed her out of the car on a side street, and ran over her three times. Oakland can be a tough place if you don't know the rules.

Thursday was always vice day. All of the regular SWs disappeared for 24 hours. The vice cops rounded up any SW that was not "in the know" or was transient. One provider suggested that there was a very good reason for the regularity of the sweeps.

14th Ave was the best Oakland stroll for WSWs, HSWs, and BSWs. There were probably fewer BSWs than any other group. Areas located near BART stations seemed to have a little heavier traffic.

Alameda Judge Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution

OAKLAND -- Alameda County Superior Court Judge Jackson Gifford was charged with soliciting prostitution on Friday after his arrest in a police sting Wednesday.

Gifford will be arraigned on the misdemeanor charge March 19, court documents say.

According to police reports from the videotaped sting operation, the 76-year-old judge, who presides in the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland, was driving on San Pablo Avenue in his gold Cadillac Northstar on Wednesday evening. He pulled up to a female police decoy standing on the corner of San Pablo and Brockhurst St.

"Do you want a date?" she asked, according to the report.

"Yeah," Gifford replied.

"You got a place to go?"

"Yeah. My house."

"Okay. Where's that?"

"Over by Lake Merritt."

"What do you want? A blow job?" she asked.

"Half and half," the judge said, referring to the street parlance for half oral sex and half regular sex.

The decoy said that it would cost the judge $40 and directed him to meet her at the corner of San Pablo and 33rd Street. That's where authorities arrested Gifford, the police report said.

Gifford could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

The Oakland jurist was appointed to the municipal court in 1981 by then-Gov. Jerry Brown, and was elevated when the superior and municipal courts unified in 1998. He was in private practice in Oakland from 1959 to 1981, handling criminal and civil cases as a solo practitioner.

Gifford did not hear cases on Friday and will be on vacation until the end of the month, said Assistant Court Executive Officer Joanne Lederman.

Although court documents say Gifford will be arraigned in Dept. 107, the courthouse where he presides, Lederman said it's likely that the hearing will be transferred to another courthouse.

District Attorney Thomas Orloff said that a prosecutor had not been assigned to the case yet. He declined to comment further on the case.

Last week I visited a place called "Hawaiian Massage" in Berkeley. I wasn't sure what "Hawaiian" style massage was, but it was basically Asian in composition.

Even though I'd never been there before, I told the lady at the desk I had (just not for 6-9 months); she seemed to believe me. Judge Pleads No Contest in Prostitution Case

An Alameda County judge pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace, after he was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover Oakland police officer, according to the Associated Press.

Superior Court Judge Jack Gifford, 76, who has sat on the bench since 1981, will likely face a separate investigation from a state judicial watchdog agency despite his plea.

A judge convicted of a misdemeanor could receive an advisory letter, a private or public admonishment, or be removed from the bench.

Gifford, who handled cases at Oakland’s Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse, was not required to appear in an Alameda County courtroom Friday for the hearing.

Although prosecutors had originally charged Gifford with one count of soliciting an act of prostitution, Gifford agreed to plead no contest to the lesser charge of disturbing the peace, and will pay a $250 fine.

Gifford was arrested March 3, when he allegedly drove up to female Oakland police officer decoy, and offered to pay $40 for sex.

Gifford was then instructed to park on a dark residential street, where several other officers were waiting to arrest him.

I use to live in Oakland, but moved to Portland about 8 months ago, and from what I remember, there was nothing special about the AMP's in the East Bay (Oakland, Berkley, etc.). San Francisco is just a 12 minute B.A.R.T. ride away, then you'll be in AMP heaven. Go to the S.F. board and check out what is hot now. I believe that the Golden Flower and Kings are two that should be pretty good.

My experience is mostly with The Golden Dragon on Mason Street right off off Ellis, and right across the street is a bar called Red's Corner. If you go to the Golden Dragon, I use to see a very sweet Korean girl, about 23 or so, named HANNAH. She is about 5'1", 95 lbs, and gives a pretty good massage, she'll walk on your back and everything. Then she'll give you a really good unrushed GFE. Everything is covered, including the BJ, but she'll do every position (except GREEK) that you want. If you finish before your hour is up, she'll go again, or just lay and cuddle with you. As far as SW action, I have not been in S.F. for about 6 months, so I really can's answer that. I always checked on Geary, and O'Farrell. The one thing I do know, is to stay away from Ellis and Polk. You will see some hot Latinas with huge tits, but the problem is they all have dicks, that's right, trannies, beware.

Sorry I couldn't help more on the SW scene. I'll be there myself, in about 2-3 weeks. I'll have more to post then.

New member here. Lived in Oakland/Berkeley all my life. Some people have asked about the Oakland SW scene, and at this point (having had some 40-50 experiences over the last 15 years with nary a brush with LE--well with one close call) I could consider myself a mid-level veteran. I've never once been to a MP so I will describe only the current SW conditions as best as I can.

There are basically two areas in Oakland/Berkeley of note. International Blvd (formerly E14th) and San Pablo Ave. I haven't done much "business" on E14th because it's further from where I live and work, but from the few experiences I've had there I don't recommend it as much. It's grittier, more violent, more dangerous, more crackwhores, and you have a lot more area to cover, i.e., driving distance in order to make the rounds. Some people have reported that MacArthur near 98th qualifies as a third little island but I've only been successful there once (even though I must say it was one of the better experiences).

So I'm going to focus here on the ins and outs of the SW scene on San Pablo. I divide it into roughly four subsections:

1) Berkeley from Ashby to University Ave. There is zero action north of University, so don't bother going any further north than that. This is my preferred run. There are a couple of reasons for this. Berkeley cops are much more insouciant about enforcement of prostitution laws than Oakland cops, who can be vicious. In fact, many of the SWs I've talked to in fact have um..."arrangements" with the Berkeley cops. Nonetheless, as is the case everywhere you still need to be vigilant for decoys. I've also found that the girls are less likely to have pimps in this part of town, which brings the cost down. The neighborhood is somewhat better in Berkeley than further west, and the attitude of the SWs is usually better. These girls are usually not glamorus and it's sparse and more subtle than in other places, but they are there. Action is mostly at night, peaking between 12-2am, but you can still sometimes find a few girls in the daytime.

2) As we proceed southwest past Ashby, things get a little grittier and the neighborhood less pleasant, but not as bad as the west oakland portion of San Pablo Ave. There is still some action here for a few more blocks, but there's a subtle downscaling of the quality of the girls I've found. When you get to about 47th st you are in an enclave called Emeryville, which is basically devoid of any action, so you'll usually see things dry up for a few blocks along this stretch until you get roughly to MacArthur Blvd. However, if you have a penchant for gambling, Emeryville has a legal card house open 24hrs with a huge bar and hof brau, called the Oaks Club. It's on the right side of San Pablo, just before the intersection of MacArthur. And who knows, you might find some Free action there. It's possible some girls work out of the place but I've only been in there a couple of times so I can't really say. I'm not a bar kinda guy.

4) From here you might take a brief detour from the San Pablo run by making a left turn to explore West MacArthur. This is a short run between San Pablo and perhaps Telegraph, occasionally a few blocks further, but don't go any further than Broadway cause there'll be nothing any further past this point until you get all the way on the other side of oakland, i.e. several miles. W. MacArthur has a long string of seedy but reasonably comfortable motels which are kind of a throwback to the 1970s when there were about a thousand SW per square inch along the street. It's cooled considerably since then, but if you don't have your own place nearby and don't want to "car date"or walk into her likely "home" (a filthy flop house that needs to be condemned and is filled with the girl's kids, crack-addicted brother, and his assorted friends sprawled all over the floor--believe me I've been there, done that my share of times), then it's likely you'll end up in one of these motels as many of the girls on this street (and on San Pablo too) will rent rooms here. If you do, just park in the Motel Lot and get as quickly from your car to the room as possible. Trust me, this particular stretch W. MacArthur is NOT a place you want to be wandering around at night on foot. Frankly I get nervous there even in the daytime.

If you go back to San Pablo and continue toward West Oakland it gets pretty grim and gets worse really right up to the end of where the action is at the intersection of West Grand. You will see some real drug addicted, alcoholic skanks and street bums here, stumbling around. However, Interestingly there's a little triangle from 31st to 34th street where, despite the grim surroundings, arguably the best looking girls of the lot can sometimes be found. This is where you'll most likely find the best looking, youngest, seductively dressed girls. They also tend to be, if not barracudas, at least rushed, pimped, expensive, and impose the most restrictions on what they'll let you do. There was, a few years ago, an absolute 10 blonde that I found here--just a drooler, and highly unusual. You really won't find 10s in any of these places, and should consider yourself lucky to get an 8. The reality is that the range you can expect normally in this area ranges from 1-8 But ironically with this beautiful girl it was the worst sex I've ever had. I'm a pretty good looking guy, but there was so much "I don't do this, I don't do that, roll her eyes hurry up" crap that it was like trying to have sex with a fully clothed mannekin. This is a word to the wise. And I can tell you, as far as this area is concened, the trend is almost linear (with a few memorable and lovely exceptions, <sigh>). The better looking and more sexily dressed the girl, the worse and more impersonal and unfulfilling your experience is likely to be. In general, the less good-looking ones are grateful for the business and want to please you, so they will usually give you much more of the GFE, which is more my cup of tea.

A few points to make overall about this scene:

Regardess of where you are in Oakland /Berkeley, it is uniformly about 90% BSW and 10% WSW. Very few LSW and basically no Asian. I always make it a point to never (well, almost never) stop directly on SP or MacArthur because these are major four lane streets and there's just too much traffic. I get paranoid about cops (which has served me well) because you can't see who's behind you (e.g. a cop). I always turn onto a side street and circle around the block and make sure no cars are behind me and LET THE GIRL COME TO ME on the side street. If she walks up to the car and immediately opens the door and gets in, I know I'm ok. If she says "want a date?" through the window, then I get nervous because this could be a cop still. You have to judge on a case-by-case basis. If she's a 7 or below and not well-dressed then it's probably safe.

I've probably made oakland sound like a bad place to be a monger but if you have a car that isn't going to break down, carry a cell phone, and just use some common sense, you really shouldn't have any problems, and you can almost always find a girl--even if possibly not up to your standard, depending on your taste. I recommend having your own place to go. They'll usually be ok with that if it isn't too far. There are some nicer upscale hotels in emeryville if you're traveling which are just a few blocks from San Pablo.

Hey if anyone has any info on Richmond (California, not Virginia), I'd be curious about it. I've heard there are places where you can find SW but I've never seen any.

BTW. I'm not into BJ so much as FS, but FS tends to run me $50-60 minimum, even for the not-so-good looking ones. If you can find an 8-9, then you're gonna be shelling out at least $80 and in some cases over $100.

This judge obviously didn't know the ropes. Brockhurst is that area i referred to between 31st and 34th. Be careful there. I did find a 9 there a few months back and it was pretty good, but don't EVER let a girl tell you to "meet" her a block away like this stupid judge did. I'm like you and usually concentrate on the Berkeley end of San Pablo and maybe a few blocks into Oakland past Ashby. Its alot safer that way. I just don't feel comfortable with the ladies in the other parts of Oakland.

I haven't seen much action in Berkeley lately. I figure the cops have chased the ladies off the streets for some reason.

Unfortunately for myself I've been arrested 3 times by the police. Once in Oakland, once in Berkeley and once in San Francisco dating back the last 28 years. My penalties ranged from jail time to fines and community service.

So I just want to say, BE CAREFUL out there. Its really mean streets in the 'hood.

I am especially fond of the look of ladies from India and the middle east. Can you comment on your experiences with LE? What mistakes did you make which you would know better than to make now? Or was it just bad luck?

The one close call I had was about ten years ago on that little two-block street parallel to Macarthur which is situated between MacArthur and the freeway overpass. I think this street is technically part of Emeryville (can't remember the number--thirtysomethingth?). A few years ago there were always lots of girls on this little side street and now it's totally bereft--no action anymore. I don't know why. Anyway I had stopped to talk to a cute hispanic girl and a few seconds later a cop roared up around the corner quite suddenly and stopped right on my tailpipe. I thought I was a goner but I was lucky because the girl hadn't gotten into my car yet, so I just drove off and the cop let me go, opting to hassle the girl instead. That is the only time I've ever had a brush with LE. I guess I've been lucky, but on the other hand I tend to be very very cautious and will pass if anything about the girl or the situation fires my warning sensors.

As for the decline in Berkeley, my gut feeling is that there was a steady decline overall in Oakland/Berkeley from the early 80s to about 5 years ago (probably due to AIDS fears and crackdowns). It seems to me that things have leveled off overall. I see some nights with hardly a soul and some nights with a lot of action. Sometimes the police make sweeps. I've heard that this happens frequently on Thursdays, but that may shift around.

I too am partial to middle-eastern and indian ladies, but I can't recall a single SW of that extraction in Oakland/Berkeley. Remember these girls have pretty conservative upbringings as a rule and many would rather starve than do that kind of work.

As far as my mistakes go, the no. 1 issue is if a lady is too "clean" cut it probably means shes a cop. Also if she doesn't get in my car, and just wants to talk and especially asks the price I'm willing to pay, thats a telltale sign. Another is if she says she's got a motel room right behind her for use, that raises my suspicions too.

I've been arrested for all those reasons. The Berkeley case was a good-looking lady in leather mini skirt who told me to go her motel room on University. When I got in there 5 police officers came out and gave me a citation. You talk about a waste of man power and of taxpayers money, that was it.

I'm in Tijuana now but grew up in SF. I started driving taxi in the mid-80s and began playing with the SWs by the late 80s. Both sides of the SFBA I mongered for 10 years. Most my encounters were BSW, while most being okay to good, some were regretable. Never any arrests but some close encounters. You can search some my earlier posts for a few photos I've put up. Obviously my predelictions lay towards the backside.

I've cruised the rougher sections with a bit of success. Of course caution was raised a notch or two in these areas. $30-40 would be normal maximum price but normally less after some negotion. Yes, I'm probably a cheap ass but this is what I pay everywhere. Interestingly while living in East Oakland I recalled seeing decent looking BSW strolling around Sunday mornings through the neighborhood between E14 to San Leandro Blvd. and from 77th to 98th.

I too am curious of the Richmond area as well as others. With other economic opporitunity unlikely anytime soon to improve, there should be an increase in this type activity in most geographic areas. For South Asian types, it might just be better to save your pennies & fly to India.

Anyway, regarding the crackdown, my observation is that most of the police crackdowns in Oakland tend to be focused on International Blvd. Obviously not exclusively, and I don't want to encourage anyone to be a dumbass and get complacent, but really, you'll be ok in Oakland most of the time if you stick to the San Pablo run (especially if you stay toward the Berkeley side) and you follow the two rules:

1. Always circle around the block and stop on the side street--never the main drag.

2. Don't solicit. Never have a conversation through the window. Pass if she doesn't just get right in your car with no words exchanged, unless you have a really good feel for the situation, or unless the only thing said is "Are you a cop?" This is ESPECIALLY true for any girl above an 8 in looks/dress.

I always take out of my wallet the amount of money I want to spent on a SW (which for me is $30-40) and put the money in my shirt pocket, then I put my wallet and all valuables in the trunk of my car before I pick up the lady. Alot of these SW are pick pockets and very slick at it too.

When I make my run in this area I still do a perfunctory drive out to Broadway on the odd chance that there might be a girl, but honestly, I think driving past Telegraph anymore is pretty much a waste of time. In fact, I can only think of two instances where I found a girl i was interested in along this stretch in the last ten years. As for it being a rough area, well this is all relative. Honestly, that part of the run is not as scary to me as the rest of W. Macarthur or further into Oakland, but it's all kind of sketchy really.

W. Grand I'll occasionally try, but I haven't seen anything there in recent years either. One thing I forgot to mention is that if you have the fortitude to go all the way into skid row at the end of the San Pablo run in Oakland, you can often find girls on the loop back if you just go a block west where the drunks hang out at the park and proceed to Brush st. It's just one intersection, but some people may miss this. But again, the girls here are rarely ones I'd want to pick up.

One thing I forgot to mention is that if you have the fortitude to go all the way into skid row at the end of the San Pablo run in Oakland, you can often find girls on the loop back if you just go a block west where the drunks hang out at the park and proceed to Brush st. It's just one intersection, but some people may miss this. But again, the girls here are rarely ones I'd want to pick up.
