Has anyone experienced a service website, gathering information, that turned out to be run by LE (as stated in the press release) , or was that just a lie?

LEOs are not stupid and they know what is going on, particularly on a street / neighborhood level, usually before it ever makes it onto this board or the Internet. The only thing that LE may not be aware of are UTR providers that DO NOT advertise, provided that the UTR provider is not already known to LE.

Every MP that is operated out of a storefront / commercial building is known to LE. The business has to get a permit, the building has to get a local license (I. E. From the city where it is located) , and the building has to register its alarm credentials (if they have an alarm) to LE. The site has to be inspected for a use and occupancy permit. As such, any "new" MP that pops up, is already on LE's radar as a MP. The changes in the Code that require a license for individual masseuses authorizes LE (depending on jurisdiction, code enforcement folks) to inspect (randomly) for license requirements.

I am sure that LE looked at traffic into and out of a MP before doing a raid. But really, the only way that a MP is going to get into a prostitution hassle is if its employees offer to provide services to LE. Most MP get hassled for code violations, such as not having proper licenses / records for employees. Going to a massage parlor is not illegal. Getting a HJ from your masseuse is not illegal (unless it is done in plain sight of other patrons). Paying the masseuse for the HJ is illegal. There is no crime in going into a massage parlor. However, when the location is open past 9PM, they offer "table shower", and an "all asian staff", there is no question as to the nature of the establishment.

I figure the only way you get busted at an established AMP is if you don't know to just STFU. The provider knows the rules.

In addition to whatever grief that foolish admission cost him, it got the provider arrested and the AMP shut down.

Of course, word is that it's open again.

No telling what prompted LE suddenly to sniff around a long-standing establishment. A change in LE admin maybe. Conflicts over agreed protection arrangements are certainly not out of the question.

OTOH as soon as they hit someone with plenty of money, and no wife, who is willing to lawyer it out. A civil fine is is exacting a penalty without due process. They are getting away with that currently for traffic cameras, but those laws can't possibly survive a constitutional challenge.

And once they lose on a soliciting case on that basis, all those money making traffic tickets go out the window.

The guy probably never got the STFU memo. Otherwise, he surely would have walked. He probably was afraid to lie to the police, knowing that is a crime. So he came clean, thus sealing his fate.

While all that is just my speculation, this situation is a sobering reminder that there does not have to be a sting taking place for an unlucky monger to have an encounter with law enforcement. Got to remember to always live by the STFU creed.

It is difficult to be a monger in MoCo. There are a lot of sting operations and many established working girls are avoiding MoCo. I just drive down to Tysons and Fairfax because it seems safer and there are many more choices. It is not a crazy drive and that is what I would recommend to fellow mongers in MoCo.

Generally the more North you go the more sexual services are available. Montgomery Co and D. C. Is where the South begins. Baltimore is relatively better and has always been. NYC and NJ have spas that advertise openly that you can find by typing "erotic spa" in Google, although it's still a bit limited. And finally, by the time you get to Canada (e. G. Ontario), it's paradise, with an amazing abundance and variety of fully legal establishments with lots of hot women.

I'm a believer in the theory that sexual attitudes become more liberal with every additional Northern latitude.

I think the language is telling and troublesome. Apparently, one can become a victim even though actual harm has not occurred, which seems to be central to the definition of a victim.

This should serve as a good reminder that you don't need to answer LE's questions and say you'd prefer to speak to a lawyer if they suspect you of illegal activity.

Actually feel bad for these guys. Several may lose their jobs and livelihoods over this. And I highly doubt, based on similar cases in the news recently, that there was any actual trafficking going on.

Going in, every massage is a therapeutic massage. Coming out, it definitely was a therapeutic massage, with proper draping. Especially in Montgomery County, which only offers therapeutic massages to my knowledge. If the police have any evidence to the contrary, they can produce it in court. But I don't understand giving them an incriminating statement. Is there something about this that I'm missing?

I tend to take a look at the Montgomery County daily arrest reports site just to see what's going on in the area. Usually I'm looking for murders and other violent crimes, but whenever a "Prostitution-General" report appears, it perks my ears up. This latest one seems like an older Asian lady. Willing to bet it was a spa worker. The arrest was on 1/31, near the top of the list at the time of this post. Be careful folks.

However, almost all these cases are settled out of court, so we may never know if this was an AMP sting. My hunch is that the two cases are connected.

So Shady Grove Rd is still one of the hot spots in the DMV.

I've been to hotels up that way about 10 times in my career but I haven't been there in about 6 years.
