BUENA PARK A Buena Park day spa nestled in a busy Buena Park strip mall was a front for prostitution, police say, with a months-long investigation into allegations of illicit business dealings culminating in a police raid Thursday.
Five women who worked at the Lincoln Day Spa were rounded up and arrested on suspicion of prostitution, along with the spa's owner.
The investigation into the prostitution ring began on a complaint about suspicious activity at the spa in the 6900 block of Lincoln Avenue, said Sgt. William Kohanek of the Buena Park Police Department. The spa advertised massages and acupuncture, but sex was also being sold, police said.
Undercover officers witnessed prostitution being sold, Kohanek said.
During Thursday's raid, the owner of the Lincoln Day Spa, Timothy Tuney Pham, 39, of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of operating outside the scope of a legitimate business. Tuyen Thuy Nguyen, 24, of Garden Grove; Nghi Nguyen, 37, of Midway City; Hanh Thi My Nguyen, 51, of Garden Grove, and Cindy Crawford, 37, of Westminster were all arrested on suspicion of prostitution.

HUNTINGTON BEACH Officials involved in a sweep of 20 massage parlors as part of an ongoing effort to investigate businesses suspected of harboring prostitution and human trafficking operations found 71 violations, according to a report.
Huntington Beach police partnered with the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, the fire department, building and safety and code enforcement on May 3 to check into the massage parlors, police reported. Investigators found 49 municipal code violations and 22 building code violations, which could mean some of the businesses will have to shut down until they are brought up to code, police reported.

Police started the investigations after a huge increase in the number of these businesses in the city and complaints about some of the parlors, officials reported.
Huntington Beach has seen a 500 percent increase in the number of massage parlors cropping up in the city since the state started to oversee the operations.
"In 2009, the State of California enacted legislation implementing statewide oversight of massage parlors and the issuance of massage technician licenses," Small wrote."That action essentially meant that Huntington Beach was no longer able to regulate these businesses as we had in the past."
The city currently has more than 60 massage parlors and many of the new businesses are not the legitimate kind, police said.
Members of the Human Trafficking Task Force were on scene at the May 3 sweep to help identify possible victims of human trafficking.
Sometimes women at these massage parlors are forced into prostitution as payment for their entry into the United States, Small wrote.
"Many of the employees at the massage parlors are female immigrants, which leads to concerns of possible human trafficking," Small wrote."While being questioned by detectives, some of the female employees admitted to performing acts of prostitution at the massage businesses where they were working."
The businesses will receive a follow-up investigation at a later date. Prior to this effort, police had performed a series of undercover investigations that turned out five arrests of women from three different places for sexual-related crimes.

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A brothel ringleader was sentenced to 10 years in state prison today for pandering 53 women to commit prostitution at high-end apartments in Irvine.
Fadi Boulos Chaiban, 53, Ladera Ranch, Pleaded guilty today to:
53 felony counts of pandering.
Six felony counts of pimping.
One felony count of conspiracy to commit pimping.
One felony count of conspiracy to commit pandering.
Sentences to:
10 years in state prison.
Forfeited $465,000 in cash.
Co-defendant Tina Lorraine Saunders, 53, Ladera Ranch, was charged on Feb. 2, 2017, with one felony count each of conspiracy to commit pimping, conspiracy to commit pandering, pimping, and pandering in Case # 17 CF0268. If convicted, she faces a maximum of six years in state prison and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on June 30,2017, at 8:30 am In Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
Circumstances of the Case.
Between December 2014 and January 2017, Chaiban ran a sophisticated brothel operation at multiple high-end apartments in Irvine.
Saunders is accused of aiding and abetting Chaiban by renting an apartment for Chaiban to use as a brothel.
Saunders is accused of recruiting adult women to work for Chaiban by placing Internet advertisements to meet potential victims.
Once women were recruited, Chaiban took sexually explicit photographs of 52 separate victims and posted their photos of various websites commonly used to advertise prostitution.
He also operated his own website on a unique web domain.
Chaiban posed as a woman to communicate with sex purchasers in order to set up prostitution dates.
The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) located several Irvine luxury apartments where Chaiban arranged for sex purchasers to meet with the victims.
During the investigation, OCHTTF and Irvine Police Department (IPD) detectives observed dozens of men going into and out of the apartments in 30-minute and one-hour increments before the victims left each evening.
Chaiban entered the apartments to collect cash earnings left behind by the victims at the end of each day, kept the majority of the money for himself, and maintained a detailed client list.
On Jan. 31,2017, OCHTTF arrested the defendants while they were leaving their home.
At the time of his arrest, Chaiban possessed over $465,240 in cash in a storage locker.
Members of the OCHTTF and the Orange County District Attorney's (OCDA) Office work proactively to protect women and minors from falling victim to commercial sexual exploitation. Demand for commercial sex is a primary factor in human exploitation and trafficking in Orange County. This case was investigated by OCHTTF, a partnership between Anaheim Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Costa Mesa Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, IPD, Newport Beach Police Department, OCDA, Orange County Sheriff's Department, Santa Ana Police Department, and community and non-profit partners.

If you get caught and have to defend against government prosecutors, you would be royally fucked. Criminal defense attorneys bill $300-500 per hour in County Superior courts and $600 to 800 per hour in Federal Court. They don't give a shit and will milk you until you run out of all assets and credits.
If you use pimps or escort services, it's better to have a burner phone with SIM card bought with cash. Use that phone strictly to call the escorts, and no one else, so it cannot be traced back to you.

The defense of 61 felony counts would need lots of investigative works and may cost a million $ or more. The cops spent 8 months investigating this ring. His attorney must have looked at the evidence and crapped in his pants. That's why the perp struck a deal with the D.A. and pleaded guilty. If he fought the charges and got convicted, he would likely get 25 years.

You are right. There are a lot of bullshit prosecution by county, state and federal cops and attorneys looking for overtime pays. They have been ruining a lot of good people while gaining nothing good for anyone. The last time I was dragged in for jury duty, the Defendant was a Caribbean brutha who had been popped for a supposed DUI. The white cops pulled him over for driving while black, they searched his car, couldn't find any drugs or weapons, so, fuck what can these pigs charge him with? DUI of course! This guy didn't want to cop a plea, and this fucking ridiculous case went to trial. Needless to say, they asked me a couple questions, I told them my opinions and they promptly told me to go home. I never found out what happened to this guy's case. He was facing 6 months in the county.

People need to earn a living. Working shit hourly jobs at Walmart and McDonalds is human trafficking. People being "forced" to work multiple jobs to just keep out of homelessness. If a woman decides to work for a parlor giving HE's in order to get by, how is that worse? There's an easy solution to this, legalize and regulate the industry. The state will earn tax revenue, the girls working legally will be protected from predators, and law enforcement can then focus on the real criminals.

Harris told The Root that she supports reparations for black people, but that is not precisely what she told The Grio's Natasha Alford after we spoke with her. For reparations, Harris said she supports the Lift Act, which would provide a tax credit for all families making up to $100,000. When Alford followed up by saying that's a default benefit to black people but isn't exactly reparations, Harris had this to say:
"If you look at the reality of who will benefit from certain policies, when you take into account that they are not starting on equal footing, it will directly benefit black children, black families, black homes-owners because the disparities are so significant," she said. "So, if we focus on the specific issues that have resulted in the greatest disparities and we understand that is part of why we're doing it."
"Listen, the reality is also this: any policy that will benefit black people, will benefit all of society. Let's be clear about that. Let's really be clear about that. So, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm going to do something that only benefits black people. No. Because whatever benefits that black family will benefit that community and society as a whole and the country."

Police: Georgia shooting suspect may have 'sexual addiction'.
ATLANTA (AP) — A white man accused of killing eight people, most of whom were of Asian descent, at massage parlors in the Atlanta area told police the attack was not racially motivated and that he potentially had a "sexual addiction," officials said Wednesday.
Still, authorities said they were investigating whether the deaths were hate crimes amid concerns over a wave of attacks on Asian Americans. Six of the victims were identified as Asian and seven were women.
Officials did not say that Robert Aaron Long, 21, ever went to the parlors where the shootings occurred. They also said he was planning to go to Florida in a plot to attack "some type of porn industry. ".
"He made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past," said Sheriff Frank Reynolds, of Cherokee County, where one of the targeted businesses was.
He said it was too early to tell if it was racially motivated — "but the indicators right now are it may not be. " He added: "We believe that he frequented these places in the past and maybe have been lashing out. ".
The attack was the sixth mass killing this year in the USA, and the deadliest since the August 2019 Dayton killing that took the lives of nine people, according to a database compiled by The Associated Press, USA Today and Northeastern University. It follows a lull during the pandemic in 2020 that had the smallest number mass killings in more than a decade. The database tracks mass killings defined as four or more dead, not including the shooter.
Many suspects who commit mass shootings have a history of violence against women. Still, the attack haunted members of the Asian American community who saw the shootings as an attack on them, given a recent wave of assaults that coincided with the spread of the coronavirus across the United States. The virus was first identified in China, and then-President Donald Trump and others have used racially charged terms like "Chinese virus" to describe it.
Georgia state Rep. Bee Nguyen said the shootings appear to be at the "intersection of gender-based violence, misogyny and xenophobia. ".
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said that regardless of the shooter's motivation, "it is unacceptable, it is hateful and it has to stop. ".
The attacks began Tuesday evening, when five people were shot at Youngs Asian Massage Parlor near Woodstock, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Atlanta, Cherokee County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said. Two people died at the scene, and three were taken to a hospital where two died, Baker said.

About an hour later, police responding to a call about a robbery found three women dead from apparent gunshot wounds at Gold Spa near Atlanta's Buckhead area, where tattoo parlors and strip clubs are just blocks away from mansions and skyscrapers in one of the last ungentrified holdouts in that part of the city. Officers then learned of a call reporting shots fired across the street, at Aromatherapy Spa, and found another woman apparently shot dead.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said President Joe Biden has been briefed on the "horrific shootings" and would receive an update later Wednesday from Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray. The FBI is assisting Atlanta and Cherokee County authorities in the investigation.
Vice President Kamala Harris expressed support to the Asian American community after the "tragic" shooting, as she sent condolences to the victims' families.
"We're not yet clear about the motive. But I do want to say to our Asian American community that we stand with you and understand how this has frightened and shocked and outraged all people," said Harris, who is the first Black and South Asian woman to hold the office of vice president.
Over the past year, thousands of incidents of abuse have been reported to an anti-hate group that tracks incidents against Asian Americans, and hate crimes in general are at the highest level in more than a decade.
"We are heartbroken by these acts of violence," Asian Americans Advancing Justice — Atlanta said in a statement. "While the details of the shootings are still emerging, the broader context cannot be ignored. The shootings happened under the trauma of increasing violence against Asian Americans nationwide, fueled by white supremacy and systemic racism. ".
Police in Atlanta and other major cities deplored the killings, and some said they would increase patrols in Asian American communities. Seattle's mayor said "the violence in Atlanta was an act of hate," and San Francisco police tweeted #StopAsianHate. The New York City Police counterterrorism unit said it was on alert for similar attacks.
Surveillance video recorded a man pulling up to the Cherokee County business about 10 minutes before the attack there, and the same car was spotted outside the Atlanta businesses, authorities said. A manhunt was launched, and Long was taken into custody in Crisp County, about 150 miles (240 kilometers) south of Atlanta, Baker said.
Rita Barron, the store manager of a business neighboring Youngs in Cherokee County, said a bullet was shot through their shared wall. She said that security footage of the parking lot showed the gunman had been sitting outside in his car for about an hour just watching the stores.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry earlier said that its diplomats in Atlanta have confirmed with police that four of the victims who died were women of Korean descent. The ministry said its Consulate General in Atlanta is trying to confirm the nationality of the women.
Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock said in a video posted on Facebook that his deputies and state troopers were notified Tuesday night that a murder suspect out of north Georgia was headed their way. Deputies and troopers set up along the interstate and "made contact with the suspect," he said.
A state trooper performed a PIT, or pursuit intervention technique, maneuver, "which caused the vehicle to spin out of control," Hancock said. Long was then taken into custody "without incident. ".
Crisp County sheriff's spokeswoman Haley Wade said Wednesday morning that Long, who is white, is no longer in their custody and that her office has turned over its information to the other Georgia agencies and the FBI.
USA Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is in South Korea meeting with Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong, mentioned the killings during an opening statement.
"We are horrified by this violence which has no place in America or anywhere," he said.

It's new. Homeland Security, with its vast resources, has started to do sex stings in Texas and a few other states. I guess HSI has so much money and not much to do while cartels are trafficking caravans of terrorists across the border into the US.
Not sure why HSI has to do sex stings. It has always been local jurisdiction. I don't know of any federal statutes involving prostitution. So HSI would do the stings then hand the perps over to local LE to prosecute, which is a felony in Texas.

DALLAS - 134 people across Dallas-Fort Worth were arrested as part a Homeland Security sting looking to find those paying for sex.
The operation ran from Sept. 11 to Sept. 15 and included several police departments, sheriff's offices and other local, state and federal agencies.
HSI said law enforcement found marijuana, meth, cocaine and guns.
"Sex trafficking, and human trafficking as a whole, is one of the fastest growing criminal enterprises in the USA Human trafficking organizations often target minors and other marginalized populations because of their vulnerabilities," said HSI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Lester are. Hayes Jr. In a statement. "Potential customers who seek commercial sex are often as culpable as those who levy violence to keep their victims entrapped. "
The purchase of sex is a felony violation in Texas.
The state is the first in the country to prosecute sex solicitation.

A release from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) says the arrests included two confirmed human traffickers, a nurse at a major medical network in Dallas, four people with access to secure areas of DFW Airport, four non-citizens and one "prominent DFW city employee."
No names were given as a part of the release.
