What are your thoughts and experience.Woody, I've posted in the past about how to tell the real replies from the fakes on CL. It changes somewhat as time goes by, but it's always easy for me to tell the real responses from the fake. First off, post more than one ad, in different categories, if possible. There's a main M4W category, as well as one under 'casual encounters'. If you have more than one ad, the fake replies generally all come in succession, one after the other, at basically the same time. Most all fake replies have an email address in the body they want you to reply to, almost always a gmail address, or they'll tell you to send them your email or tell you to text some number that's not a nearby area code.
There's also a trick I use to find out who's replying to me without even having to respond. Many times their email header will have their name on it. Sometimes they'll also send a phone number to text. Both of these things are searchable on Facebook. If they have their name attached on the header, I look up the name, usually with 'Alabama'. Many times, the name who replies will pop up a local person in the metro Birmingham area. Phone numbers are even better, because many people don't know how to make their cell number not link to their Facebook account, and you type in the number on the FB search thread, and up pops whoever it's associated with. Sometimes you get both a name and a number, and the number pops up the name on the header.
As I've sad in the past, I let them come to me. There's hardly ever a time I've replied to an ad on CL, BP or whatever. I'm looking for something free by posting ads, and probably 75% of the women who post ads on there are looking to be paid, so I don't even bother with replying to ads. And nowhere in my ads I've posted do I ever mention anything about wanting to pay somebody, so if someone sends me a reply asking in some stealth way whether money would exchange hands, I reply back something like that it's all for fun, and I'd never expect a girl to pay me to meet up. They ask something stupid, so I give them something stupid back.
It's all like fishing. Like SW mongering, it takes patience and time. Weeding through the fake replies, there's always going to be the real ones mixed in. And one thing you have to remember about the people that post and reply to ads on these sites, 9 times out of 10, and more realistically 10 times out of 10, the people that answer and post them aren't going to look like someone off the Bachelor or Bachelorette. This day and time, there's even less reason for ones like that to post or reply to ads like that. So if someone expects anything more than 'desperate fat chicks that aren't attractive' replying to them, especially for free, they're probably looking in the wrong place.

Honestly it made me think of the days prior to the net, and just how difficult it really was trying to find someone for casual hookups without having to go to a bar and find them in person. I remember these old ad booklets they used to sell in adult book stores, where people would send in an ad and post there. It was mostly garbage, and I never contacted anyone from it. There was also party lines you could call, and back in the day I had some luck with them. But even they pale in comparison to having an avenue to post ads such as CL did. Even though the majority of replies were garbage, I'd always have a few bites. But a few bites are better than no bites. There's still other avenues, but far less easy.
One good thing you could say about the personals being taken down, is it'll more than likely send a lot of the working girls back out on the street.

RIP.I believe CL jumped the gun. It's not even a signed law, yet. It's no different than how BP pulled their ads for a time in the recent past. Back prior to the net, I was mainly going the SW route for fun, and still do, some. But with the advent of CL, I'd been going more and more the route of finding free hookups via CL. Sure it was a fishing expedition, but for every 8 or 9 spam replies, you'd get an actual legit reply. At least you had that option. Plus with CL, you had the opportunity to hook someone just by what your ad heading said, and get some you'd probably not get if they were browsing and seeing your pic along with the post. Namely girls a number of years younger. That being said, I've actually had better luck in the big picture with dating site ads. You'd be surprised at the number of women I've talked to and met up with, some on the same day contact was initiated, and ended up being intimate with via dating sites. Most women on there are desperate and lonely, a lot have just gotten out of another relationship and just looking for a warm body. It's just dating sites take a bit more effort, of which I've not been wanting to spend of late. There's still other sites online, but they're way, way more cumbersome, and have less of an audience. People elsewhere keep saying BP, but for free hookups, it's just not a place to do so, and certainly not the way to go for me, as they make you post a contact number on your ad. I guess we'll see. I reached out to Jamie via Facebook messenger, she won't accept a friend request. She replied pretty quick but worked till late afternoon. She gave me her number and said to get a hold of her after 4 pm. I reached back out at 4:15 and she quickly replied back. Gave me her address a little east of the airport in Centerpoint. It's a house and pretty clean. She showered before the visit and was very clean even though the storm knocked out her power. Even put on make-up. Seems to be a very sweet girl. I don't suspect any req issues besides maybe 420. I think she's support herself and kids.
