This can be a thread specifically for the directions and descriptions of Bloominton Amps. As we have another amp thread I would suggest we continue to post experiences there. This thread I would suggest is reserved exclusively for the directions to and descriptions of the amps.

First up is Tokyo Spa. Located on the far left corner of the strip mall next to K-mart. To get here, take Veterans to Empire and turn west towards the mall, K-mart and Circuit City. Take a right at the stoplight near the McDonalds and another quick right onto the frontage road that runs in front of McD's. Follow the curve to the strip mall entrance sign or to Schlotzky's and take the left. The mall is two brown brick buildings, Tokyo is to the far left when you are facing the stores.

Tokyo's hours are 9am to 10pm, the address and phone can be found in the newspaper or the phone book. When the Open light's on, your welcome to come in. Through the first door is what looks like a waiting room, though I've never waited. Ring the door bell and wait. Either the mamasan or a girl will greet you. If it's the mamasan it's either you ask for a specific girl (preferably one she knows you've been with) or it's a crap shoot. If a girl greets you, that's most likely your girl unless you ask for another.

Tokyo's walls do not reach the ceiling, which is something I've always had a problem with. I don't like to hear other guys, though the girls are always pleasant to the ears. The girls waiting/bedroom is first on the left, curtained off. You'll be escorted to a room either on the left or right. It seems that when two girls are working, they stick to either the right or left side, as though they have territory. The spa, and the rooms are adequately if dimmly lit, and generally it's a no frill place. Your standard amp. One note is that the left side has the mirrors while the right side does not. I always like the mirrors, but beggars can't be choosers. The rooms are tight, barely enough space to fit a small nightstand, a folding chair and the probably almost 5 foot long table. There's a small sauna which again you can't really lie down on unless you bend your legs, so I usually just sit. The spa offers a full service table shower where the girl soaps and washes and drys you off. In the back is...the back room. Just the bathroom and a small kitchen for the girls lunch. That about does it for the description of the Tokyo Spa.

Sunshine is tucked away in a Morton building on Gill Street. Take Veterans and go east on GE road. Take a right on Airport road and then another right onto Gill street. The spa is on the left in one of the big blue Morton buildings. There is a sign by the street with all the businesses on it, when you see Sunshine spa, turn left there. Sunshine is tucked all the way in the back left of the parking lot.

I can't remember the hours but I'd guess they are the same as Tokyo's. I'll be lazy and copy my previous description of the Sunshine spa. I like its location, off the main roads and tucked away in the back of a series of buildings. One thing I didn't like was that you ring in at the front door. Other amps like Tokyo and the ones in Decatur have a smaller room you walk into initially. I don't like to stand out in front for the minute or two while I'm waiting to be greeted. The upside to this is that when you walk in, the place looks really nice. I felt like I was walking into a nicer asian restaurant, there was a nice little living room type set up with a big screen in the front room, a nice decor in general. The rooms as far as I saw are huge, the one I was led into looked like it had a personal shower (didn't use it however). The rooms reminded me slightly of those at the Peking in NW Indy. The walls were decorated nicely, though there wasn't any hangers to put your clothes on. The massage table was actually long enough to accomodate my frame, a feat I've never experienced at an amp. If you've been to Tokyo, the rooms on the left side are so cramped that the tables are basically tucked between the two walls (not that bad but close). Sunshines rooms have enough space to accomadate two even three tables. One of the decorative tables carried something that at first I thought was an air purifier, then a stereo, then an I don’t know what.

Down the hall further there are more rooms and on the right is the shower room. Another table shower where the girls wash you up. The room is again large, the table shower is in it's own room inside the shower room. There is a I guess sauna in the back of this room, but it's fairly tiny. I've never used it. That's about it.

Golden is located on Fort Jesse Road. From Veteran's go west on Fort Jesse. Golden is on the left, just before the road goes from two lanes to one. There is a big sign right next to the road, so really you can't miss it.

This is another spa where you ring the bell outside. Inside it's another standard amp. When I was last there it was a stand up shower, I'm not sure if that's changed or not. The rooms are slightly larger than Tokyo's, which is a plus. That's all I can remember.

Ivy Spa is located on South Main Street in Bloomington. To get there from Veteran's Parkway, travel south on Veteran's and exit to Main Street (Route 51) heading south, watch the right side of the road for the tarot reading place and a single floor office building. Ivy Spa is the house located after the offices; there's a sign out front. The "Open" neon sign in the window (how many private homes have that?) also lets you know you've arrived. If you're coming from Vet's and you reach the McDonald's on the left, you've gone too far. Also, it looks like the only way to turn into the driveway for Ivy Spa is coming from Vet's as there is a concrete divider in the middle of the road, i.e. if you're coming from the direction of Decatur you'll have to go past Ivy and turn around.

The house is a fairly non-descript brown brick building with a garage linked to the house by a glass entry way. There is a paved drive up to the garage, and then a gravel drive going around to a third garage stall. You can park on the gravel as it should accomadate two to three vehicles. If you see two or more cars in the drive, it's probably best to come back later. After parking just walk up the steps to the front door, ring the bell, and step inside.

The first room is the reception area, equiped with a front "desk" and a tv. Usually a girl will greet you once you've entered. From there it's down the short hall to either room on the left or room on the right. Both are bedroom sized, equipped with a standard amp table, a chair, a minifridge, an in-table, and seasonally a heater. Privacy and space are always welcome in my book, Ivy offers that in spades. Ivy does not offer a table shower, though I've heard that may change in the far future. In between the two rooms is the bathroom where you will be offered a DIY shower. Other than that the other areas are closed/curtained off and you'll probably not go much farther unless you've visited a few times. Not much to see as the curtained area is the kitchen and the door leads to a spare room, not much used. That should do for the physical description.

The Hong Kong Spa has replaced the Sunshine Spa on Gill Street.

The driving directions below are good.

I think the hours are 10 am. to 10 pm.

I'd prefer a "sticky" post, but this will do.

One Spa is located conveniently in view of Veterans Pkwy at 202 S. Eldorado Rd. Bldg #C-2, in Bloomington. One Spa is across the street from the great black monolith, nestled at the south end of a multiple business building (strip mall) whose face is an off white wood and sides are off white brick, with a sort of green trim at the roof line.

The phone number is 309-663-2272. The address is 202 S. Eldorado Rd. Bldg #C-2, Bloomington, IL.

The current fee is $60 for an hour massage. The hours are 9am to 11pm.

To get there, travel on Veterans Pkwy to Washington St, turn east on Washington. Then turn right on Prospect Rd, then right on Stern Dr. Stern quickly curves left and becomes Eldorado Rd. The parking lot has at least two entries, take your pick. The parking lot is long though narrow, you can at least park away from the spa entrance if it bothers you to have your vehicle next to it.

Currently next to One Spa is a loan store, and both establishments share an entrance. You walk in through a glass door, the loan place is left, One Spa is to your right. You then walk into their entrance hall, so at least you're not standing outside waiting to be let in. Ring the bell, one of the girls opens the door for you.

Inside the spa is spacious. The walls are painted a light green, immediately upon entry you see a small table and some ornaments on the wall. The hallway left leads to a men's and women's bathrooms, the hallway right leads to the shower room, sauna, and table rooms. The hallway surrounds what I guess is the girls rec/nap room, though I've not seen it. The men's bathroom is very spacious and has a shower itself. The sauna is taller than the sauna at the Tokyo, perhaps a touch wider and perhaps a few feet longer. The table shower room is adjacent to the sauna, standard table shower offered here on a fairly wide board. Opposite the shower and sauna are the rooms. The rooms all seem fairly spacious, at least as big as room B at the Ivy or the big room at Hong Kong. At the time of writing they have a standard massage table, a small end table and chair, a mirror and a hanger rack.

The fact the spa faces the major road in B/N may turn off some visitors. It's not really that bad, considering that you can park your car a ways off, and since One Spa shares its entry with another business you're not really in the spot light. Plus, Vet's is 45mph with 55mph traffic, who's going to pick you out across three lanes of traffic?

At the time of writing, One Spa is clean, spacious, and has potential. The location may turn off some, but I've seen worst locations, and depending on the time of day you visit I doubt you'll have too much to worry about.
